Bob Arum is a true ******. Why does he have to throw a date out there without even talking to the other side. That's what killed the last fight by him saying manny had march 13th open with Texas Stadium and MgM set to go. When negotiations went longer than expected and they were running out of time to properly promote the fight he cancelled talks and signed Clottey a day later so that he wouldnt miss his March 13th date he had with Cowboy Stadium. He says he want closed discussions but he throws out this date that Manny has scheduled and open to fight in Texas or Vegas. Bob you are such a dumb ass. Yeah thats Manny's date but what about the other fighter?

The Cowboys host the Colts on December 5, so 12/4 is out because that's too quick a turnaround to break down a mega fight set-up for an NFL football game.

The Cowboys are at the Giants on November 14, so that weekend is free.

There's one logistical flaw here, though...negotiations began last time in late november for a march date. That's three months plus lead time assuming negotiations were to have gone smooth as butter. There was little wiggle room for negotiations on that type of timeline and don't even think about promoting the hell out of it.

From May to November is an clear six months. Even if negotiations go a crazy three months, you still have three months of good promotion to hype this matchup up to the max. It makes much more sense, from a business standpoint, to negotiate the fight now.

As far as it being "pacquiao's date"...well, again there's plenty of time to make it happen. there's no leverage in having a proposed date already. It's one less thing to worry about. AND, you and I both know we never know the full behind the scenes stories...for all we know the sides have mulled the dates around to some degree already. For all we know, right?

Negotiations this time will be tougher than last.

Negotiations will be "more competitive" this time around, sure. But if you mean tougher as in both sides being more stubborn and likely to stick to their guns? Well, i don't see that happening. At least not right now, but I reserve the right to change my mind a ta later date.
