I feel it is good for the sport, but I also feel that being randomly poked and having blood withdrawn from a fighter while in training and close to a fight does have some type of effect, whether it be physically or mentally.

I know that I myself become nausous, light headed, and start hyperventilating when it comes to having blood drawn. Its something that has always had a phycological effect on me since a kid.
