    Tarver vs Jones III

What is your take if this fight were to happen at the end of the year?

Assuming for discussion's sake that Jones has a very tough and disciplined training camp, and he comes in very hungry and aware of Tarver's left, what do you think his chances are of reversing his loss?

We saw in the 1st fight that Jones elected to fight throwing a shot at a time, and Tarver's plan was to force Jones to the ropes and flurry.

    Does Tarver catch him again?

Does Jones have the speed and reflex left to outwork Tarver?

Is there anything Jones can do to reinvent himself to a certian extent?

I would think if Jones came in and threw 20 - 30 jabs a round, he'd help himself a lot. He has never been a jabber, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have one. In the past he was always able to lead with power shots, so he never needed a jab.

But if he worked on it and utilized it, he'd have an element he never had in the previous two fights.

fight #3 would be similar to #1, with Roy pulling out the decision in the late rounds

I really would hope that Jones could make a fight of it. I do think however, that Tarver would have absolutely no respect for him this time around. He would walk through any punches, and chase Jones around the ring laying consistent leather on him.

scoring of the fight may be completely different however. I think the judges would give the fight to Jones if it went to the cards similar to the first fight.....except Antonio would be alot busier. Jones might win on clean effective agressiveness or Tarver would stop him by overwhelming him with punches.

I think it all depends on his weight status. He looked almost sick and almost pale against in the rematch with Tarver and his fight with Johnson. He should have stayed at heavy and tried to make some noise. Should be interesting to say the least.

Jones would need a couple of tune up fights before he could be competative against the top Lightheavies. If Jones fought a fight or two and then takes on Tarver I think he would win. Tarver nor Johnson impressed me at all last night.

I think a key for Jones would be to respect Tarvers power, something he didn't do in either of the 1st two fights really.

If you notice when Jones fought Ruiz, he was ultra cautious about catching a big shot the entire time. Agaisnt Tarver, I don't think he ever thought he'd get caught with a shot like that.

This time, if he knows what to look for, he may be able to make the necessary adjustments.

This is all depending on how much speed and reflex Roy has left, which is still a big quetion mark.

Yeah. I suppose the point can be made as to "what jones shows up" based on his reflexes and whatnot. Either way, Tarver is a damn force after the display he put on last night in my opinion. That right hook from odd angles in coalition with his straight punches is really good. I also think he might have the fastest hands in boxing. Im dead serious.

We'll have to find out what Jones can still do . . . no matter what, I like to see that rematch happen.
