a win is a win, clottey kept using his head despite warnings by the ref which cost him the fight i but i had clottey up by 2 points before the dq btw.

i am not dis*****g marquez was the smaller man, just stating he was ranked by ring as #2, i didnt rate him at #2.. but floyd would have beaten him at any weight, you disagree? he was smaller this is why he is at #9
Actually Oscar was rated #5 by the ring at the time Floyd fought him. You looking at the end of the year rankings. Floyd-Oscar fought in May of 2007 so a better inclination where everybody was rated at the time. Is to look at the end of the year of 2006 beginning of 2007.

    Which would be this one...

You see he is rated #6. But, take Shane off #1 since he went back down to 147 and move everybody else up one spot. Nobody who is ahead of Oscar in this rankings lost a fight before Oscar fought Floyd. So the spots would of remain intact after Shane left.

The difference is Mayweather had 18 pro fights and it was his first championship fight. Hernandez had never lost a fight at 130. What Hernandez did after the fight is irrelevant. He was the champion when he went into that fight. I give them both(Pacquiao,Mayweather) credit for the wins but you can't compare these two situations.

****** comparison because genaro was the favourite in odds to beat a 21 year old floyd who was 17-0 and fighting for his first world title, and genaro was undefeated at 130 lbs, pacquiao was a massive favourite to beat hatton and slight one over cotto......

genaro quit on his stool against oscar when he moved up to 135 pounds to fight oscar, he never got seriously hurt in that fight like the way hatton after 10 rounds against mayweather or cotto was against mr plaster wraps, looks more like you havent watched that fight..even freddie roach admitted margarito should be banned for life and cotto is damaged goods.

still did i mention pacquiao anywhere in this thread? stick to the topic were talking about the greatness of floyd gorilla dog mayweather, we might talk about pacquiao once he takes the drug tests...but for now lets talk genaro hernandez

He was going to fight Bazan for the LW title until the doctors found a blood clot in his brain and advised him to retire. He was only 32, and in the last 2 years he had beaten WBC champion (now HoFer) Azumah Nelson, future champion Anatoly Alexandrov, and future champion Carlos Hernadez.

He gets great style points for the Azumah Nelson win: after the 7th round he was hurt by a late punch to the throat and was told that if he if he couldn't continue he would be given a DQ win. Rather than being a ***** and taking the DQ win, he said "I want to win it like real champions do" and finished the fight, winning his second world title.

Only 2 losses in Hernandez's career: the first was when he moved up in weight to challenge Oscar De La Hoya (this was right before Oscar beat Julio Cesar Chavez and Pernell Whitaker to become P4P #1) and the second loss was to Floyd Mayweather. I consider the Hernandez win to be in the top 5 wins of Mayweather's career so far.

Absolutely Mayweather was a prospect when he beat Hernandez a guy who never lost a fight at 130. GREAT WIN!!

Wasn't it Hernandez last fight after a long career, he was pretty much done. He beat a Nelson that was even older but Oscar did the same thing when Genaro was in hit prime. I would rate the Corrales bout as a more impressive.
