I say we focus on a Pacquiao/Mayweather matchup instead of just throwing out names that the general public wouldn't care to see.
Martinez would beat Mayweather at 154

Sorry...not happening.....IF they fought...we would see a more lopsided sparring "safety 1st" fight than we sae with Mosley....Floyd would come in the same way he prepared for DLH....we would see the usual first couple of rounds of "feeling out" by Floyd...and he would know what he had to work with....power, speed, ring generalship etc....from the sound of it...if you are underating Martinez....then your are definately underating Floyd's abilities.Comment

I don't care for this at 154. This fight is meaningless at 154. 160 is where it means something.Comment

I want to see martinez with his hands down try to front Floyd like that. He gets destroyed at 154, soundly beat at 160. I like Martinez a lot but he gets hit too much and needs to take rounds off to last 12 rounds. You cant tire against Floyd.Comment

Ok... to be honest. The May/Pac buildup has been going on for SO LONG now that yeah, it has to happen.
But when that's done. If Mayweather comes out on top, then Martinez would be the only other competitive fight for him (at 154lbs).
Not taking anything away from Floyd, but does anybody actually believe that Shane would have survived 12 rounds if he was fighting Sergio Martinez last weekend?
Floyd is in my opinion the best, orthodox, pure boxer at 147/154.
Martinez is the best, southpaw, mover-speedster at 154/160.
If Floyd is fighting at 147, then fight Pacquiao.
At 154, Martinez is the only valid competition and he has a GREAT chance.Comment

I also think Martinez might very well win this, but that doesn't really speak against Floyd. He is a small welterweight to begin with, he actually has no business at 154 and if he'd go there and face arguably the best super welter, I'd totally understand if he wouldn't take that unnecessary risk, would have nothing to do with ducking, in my opinion.Comment
