People have been fighting for titles at catchweights since the great Henry Armstrong. What good is having a title if you just lost at a catchweight within that division anyways?

That was a ***** move by Cotto. I understand if he doesn't want to pay the sanctioning fees, but apart from that he has nothing to gain from hiding his title under his pillow.

Its not the same at all. Pac's 10M$ clause only comes into play if Floyd cheats at the scales in the first place. Floyd's demand to have blood withdrawn before the fight comes into play even if Pac is clean.

      see the difference?
Yup, i agree and understood that from the get go. I said it jokingly...i mean we all know the blood request was a very small snowball that quickly rolled downhill. I don't believe it was a serious request from the beginning and eventually had grown into a life of its own.

I say this: nothing else matters once Larry merchant has said his goofy comparisons and stories, once Lampley has dissected the fighters or Steward has awkwardly grinned at the camera. Nothing matters once the National Anthems are sung and Michael Buffer tells us to get ready to rumble. Once that bell rings it all goes out the window. So again, I say, whatever makes it happen...do it...or don't, whichever is the case. So long as the bell rings and the guys walk towards the center of the ring.

Damn, I should write for 24/7, huh?

No I don't agree with you. Because both floyd and PAc have to take tests. Only floyd pays $10 mil per lb if he comes in over. If Pac' demand was if EITHER fighter comes over than its $10 mil per lb then both are subjected to the same penalty.

To me that is the difference. Manny's demand only applies to floyd. floyd's demand applies to both.

Its Cotto's problem if he accepted the catchweight cause the money he was going to make. Big risk sometimes give big rewards. But I was responding to your comment why nobody made a big deal of Pac comming from 140 to fight for a 147 title.

Pac had fought DLH already around that weight and came in at 152 at fight night. Catchweights been in the sport for some time already and will be here for some time to come. In the end they fought, Pac won and Cotto made no excuses for the weight

I know it's alot of money to us guys here well most but it's really not alot for a man with hundreds of millions in the bank already, he doesn't need it.. Us guys here look at 40 million as a huge amount but think about it, for a guy like pacquiao he will never be short of money, it's really not an issue for him looking at it from pacquiao's perspective, it seems many are acting like it's life changing money for him it's NOT.

Pacquiao just doesn't want Mayweather to walk all over him and call the shots, i cant really blame the guy. I certainly wouldn't like to get walked all over without having getting your own say on the matter, it's just human nature not to get bossed around.

I hope the fight happens but i just had to say this, think about it guys for a man of pacquiaos calibre 40 million is not ALOT. He could easily retire now and live a wealthy life without or with the extra 40 million, it's not that big of a deal.
Thats why the fight with Hatton almost fell thru because of Manny wanting the bigger share?

              Get a ****ing clue.

lols... that an example of pac not caring about the money, not the other way around.

pac was willing to leave all that money because of pride and because he didn't want to be disrespected.

He still took the extra money, though. Right?
