Why is it a big deal that Floyd beat Shane?

I dont even get why people made a huge deal out of this fight.
The media acting like this is the biggest thing in boxing in years.

Were talking about the self proclaimed best fighter in the world (most of the media agree with Floyd on that) fighting a 38 year old fighter who was beaten by Cotto years ago, looked lousy in his fight with Mayorga until he got the KO, then stopped Margaito which was a good win but Margarito isnt exactly hard to find. Then has over a year layoff with no fights. Its much better than the Marquez win but please.

because shane was widley regarded the biggest threat to Mayweather due to his hand speed and power, plus vast experience.

This is a big win for Maywether and should sit him back at the top p4p list

maybe because he was the number ww in the world?
maybe because he just knocked out margo to take the belt in his last fight?
maybe because he was a legit hard hitting ww and most people said floyd would never fight one?

      take your pick

I fully expected Mayweather to win but it was more the way he did it. He fought offensively and for once gave the fans their moneys worth.

It's not that he won. It's that he dominated Mosley, who was the biggest threat to Mayweather at 147 not named Manny Pacquiao.

Seriously... did you really predict he would beat Shane in that fashion? I doubt it.

I, like probably everybody else, thought he would just run backwards and potshot his way to a decision... but nah, he took it to Mosley, effectively neutralizing anything Mosley threw with excellent reflexes and crisp shots.

yeah Floyd looked crisp and sharp. Shane looked old and tired.

it was totally the opposite to what we thought would happen, floyd on the backfoot, and shane chasing

thats what ive been saying...other than his win over margarito, mosley havent really impressed or done anything in his last several fights that makes him the undisputed welterweight king, and the fact that he had an almost 2 yr layoff at his age...since margarito was banned from boxing, the fight against margarito shouldve been changed as a non title fight with the belt stripped from margarito.

as for the other fight post mayweather retirement, you have to question mayweathers win over an overweight marquez due to his needing to move up 2 weight classes to fight mayweather. and to move up 2 weight classes at marquez's age was another disadvantage.

so with all this said, mayweathers two wins post retirement is highly exagerated...i'll take pacs 2 win over two younger top 5 welterweigjht cotto and clottey over mayweaters 2 win over close to 40 yr old marquez and mosley...and the fact the cotto beat mosley, the same cotto that got knocked down twice and then TKOd by pac...and add the fact that pac beat common opponant hatton much quicker than mayweather did (im not including delahoya because he had to come down in weight, and im not including marquez cuz he had to go up 2 weight classes)

and to those who said pac beat a never the same cotto after margarito beat him up...heres one for you...mosley was never the same after he got drilled twice by vernon forrest and twice by winky wright...thats why after those 4 fights and mosleys age and close to 2 yr layoff, mosley was never the same as well...
