that right hook is not getting anywhere with that left elbow up.
better to do the opposite. right hook to the body and throw that left.

the answer is that they both pose difficulties to each other.
....i will elaborate further.......
1. Pac is a southpaw. the most effective weapon against a southpaw is the str8 right or the left hook (depending on how u set the left hook up). conventional boxing wisdom suggests you should not throw lead right hands against orthodox fighters.....something we see Floyd do all the time and use effectively. Now against a southpaw, conventional thinking is that it is ok to lead with a str8 rite. So if floyd can do it with such effect and positive results against a righty, when he is not supposed to, surely Pac might be eating some of those leads.....i see floyd pullcountering alot also.
2. Also we all know Floyds best punch is the left hook. Against a southpaw he likes to use it to find range and check the opponent over their lead hand. He also likes to let it fly after leading with the right to the head or body.....another punch i could see him hitting Pac with......additionally he likes to set traps that allow ghim to come underneath and left hook the liver.
3. Floyd is a master at controlling the distance and is more comfortable fighting shorter men. Against Pac he will have a massive advantage in reach and an adv in height. There is a very good chance he could completely dominate Pac whenever Pac tries to get off, using the reach disparity to counter with incredible effectiveness.....why....Pac likes to lunge forward with the first few punches, then show the angles...Floyd might cut him to pieces with those counters.....similar to how JMM did it late in their fight/s.
Now for Pac......
1. Floyd likes to fight southpaws aggressively. He has proven this against Judah, Corley, Mitchell and some other guy early in his career. Pac is a southpaw....the southpaw advantage is less when the the left is moving forward.....but when the righty is aggressive the advantage of being a lefty comes into play more and more. We have seen floyd eat some big str8 lefts and looping lefts down the pipe against Judah, Corley and mitchell.....no reason to expect a guy as fast as Pac won't catch him...and he might not see it either.....especially if he decides to walk Pac down......prime time for Pac....when Floyd jabs with the left or misses with a left hook.
2. Floyd likes to jab his opponents in the pit of the stomach like a laser. Pac can counter this effectively with the short right hook he throws......similar in the fashion Judah was able to (at least for one rd).....so that may take away floyd's wear down punch to the body....and give Pac an effective attacking avenue when floyd lunges in......easy to get a flash KD this way....
3. floyd's nature is to fight lefties aggressively......something he paid for early against Judah. Pac is not Judah......he can sustain the attack and won't break down mentally....Floyd being agressive plays into Pac's foot and hand speed......the time to be agressive with Pac is off the counter.......not to be the lead aggressor........Floyd would do better to let Pac come to him and when Pac lunges in....step back, then counter.........similar to what Floyd did with JMM.....and what JMM did to Pac.....and then after the counter is landed become aggressive, then back off and reset. It goes against Floyd's nature not tombe aggressive against lefties.
So you see they both pose various problems for each other....but in the end you would think Pac has to finish this early....or hurt floyd badly early or get one big lucky punch.......before Floyd has a chance to figure out the best plan to go with.

styles matchups favor floyd.
only thing about manny's style that would trouble floyd is it's coming from a southpaw stance.
if manny has a chance , it'll be due to physical attributes.
stronger puncher and more stamina.

The JMM fights showed that Pacquiao could have trouble with a counterpuncher with good timing, Mayweather is a counterpuncher with good timing, better than JMM in fact.
The Cotto fight showed that Pacquiao really couldn't cut off the ring that well, Mayweather is a good mover, better than Cotto and Cotto has success while working off his jab and counterpunching at times.
Morales took a more boxer/counterpuncher role in their first fight and he beat Pacquiao.
The Clottey fight showed that Pacquiao can get caught by fast, straight shots and uppercuts.
Stylistically the fight favors Mayweather.

I know your a pinoy pasawayako, but don't let your pride get in the way of your thought process. paquiao does not have the AGILITY in his lower body move out of the way of floyd's punches. Paquiao lacks the defense to deal with floyds hand SPEED hence the first few rounds of the cotto fight which is much much slower than floyd. If you truely beleive the manny can out box money then your really dillusional.Last edited by heavyhands702; 05-03-2010, 12:18 AM.
