Nah,it would be a knee jerk reaction if they did. Pac's earned the slot,and as good as Floyds win was,it doesnt have a bearing on these things. Its all about opinions of course,but the only way to settle or change the status quo is for them to fight. The money is right,they just gotta find a compromise on this testing issue now. IMO,whoever doesnt agree to meet half way between 14 and 24 days is the one that stops the fight from happening.

No, I can't rememer a time when the ring downgraded a P4P number 1 after fighting top opposition. They did it with Jones because he wasn't fighting the best at the time.

Mayweather has fought Mosley, JMM, Hatton, De La Hoya, Baldomir
Pacquiao has fought Clottey, Cotto, Hatton, De La Hoya, Diaz

Both guys have fought the best in there past few fights (even if Diaz, JMM and Baldomir were seriously overmatched and seen as that before the fight) so I would probably put them joint first if I could, until one of them lost or they fought each other. It's a debate that won't be solved until they face each other or either one has a serious drop in competition.

The Ring Magazine is truly the bible (or quran) of boxing. If they decide to put Mayweather at number 1 then he deserves rightfully so. Ring has the most credible and respect list out of so many other.
