Hasegawa was out on his feet and Montiel was in the process of unloading uppercuts to his head but the ref crowded him out as he positioned himself to step in. Montiel would have landed those flush and a few more before the bell. Thanks to the ref, Hasegawa lived to fight another day.

if you're using the ropes to stay up that counts as a kd right? shouldn't hasegawa have gotten a 10 count?

I believe so. But I won't hold that against Montiel, it's the ref's fault, Montiel has nothing to do with it.

agreed. i just would've liked to see hasegawa at least get a chance to recover.

                  You and me both bro.

The fight probably could have been a classic or a foty candidate but now we will never know.

My copy of the fight has another angle, which shows Hasegawa from behind, when against the ropes. Montiel landed seven or shots when Hozumi was on them, a few of them snapped his head back too.

From what I saw, the only thing holding Hasegawa up was his left hand tangled on the rope. It may leave some people with a bad taste in their mouth, but I think it was a good stoppage. He had just been hurt, was throwing nothing back, and defenseless.

Dap is not a good poster anymore. All he does is nuthug JMM (He's always done that, granted JMM fought John in his backyard too) but why can't he recognize real here and actually praise a Mexican fighter that deserves it now. JMM has lost a lot of points with me fighting Juan Diaz in a rematch. I know I'll probably be put on Xcaret's ignore list now.
