Why are Montiel fans happy with a "gotcha" win?

My copy of the fight has another angle, which shows Hasegawa from behind, when against the ropes. Montiel landed seven or shots when Hozumi was on them, a few of them snapped his head back too.

From what I saw, the only thing holding Hasegawa up was his left hand tangled on the rope. It may leave some people with a bad taste in their mouth, but I think it was a good stoppage. He had just been hurt, was throwing nothing back, and defenseless.

he looked out of it on the ropes, but then he looked like he had recovered somewhat a few seconds after the stoppage. that minute in the corner could've meant a world of difference, and if montiel caught him again then there wouldn't be any room for argument.

then again hasegawa didn't look too upset with the stoppage. but he doesn't seem like the type to complain. one of the reasons i'm a fan actually.

I'm not saying it wouldn't have made a difference, it very well could have. And you're right, his eyes didn't look too bad after it was stopped.

IMO, given the situation as it was being played out, it was a good call.

Dap is not a good poster anymore. All he does is nuthug JMM (He's always done that, granted JMM fought John in his backyard too) but why can't he recognize real here and actually praise a Mexican fighter that deserves it now. The future of boxing is as follows:

1)You can't fight without a cup that rides all the way up to your ****
2)You can spit your mouthpiece all the time and not get penalized
3)hold incessantly and blame the other guy when the ref is on your side
4)complain to your promoters ref
5)have promoters ref answer your prayers
6)fight with a cut for more than 20 seconds after it opens
7)stop fights when someone lands a clean counter and immediate flurry followup

a. this is the one that will lead to the eventual banning of 5 punch combos
b. which will lead to the banning of 3 punch combos.
c. which will lead to the use of giant pillows that would replace the current boxing glove
d. boxing turns into femme pillow fighting.


Thats where this is all leading.
