He was getting his ass kicked but still a bad stoppage only one second left.....

Bad stoppage? my boy was holding the ropes with one hand in order not to go down and Montiel tagged him with a nasty left as he was leaning on the ropes.

although i am a fan of montiel's and was rooting for him to win and i am happy he won..... i just have to say, that it was another hack job by the referee lawrence cole.

it is obvious that he wasn't paying attention to the time left in the round, and i will say, had there been even 30 secs left in the round or even 10 seconds left in the round, then i would say it was a good and fair stoppage, but 1 second left? and when he jumped in it was at the bell, so it could've easily been fair to jump in to stop the round and the let the fight continue.

it is a championship fight, i think that hasegawa was going to lose after getting zanged like that, montiel is a beast through and through and never lets a guy hurt off the hook, so it was a matter of time, i just find coles ref job to be piss poor at his absolute best.

either way, the guy i was rooting for and picked won, and won in good fashion, i just think that hasegawa deserved a bit more of a chance. it's not like he was defenseless with any time left on the round. like i said, if there were 10 seconds left it wouldve been a fair stoppage, but stopping it at the end of the round right on the bell? kind of sketchy when you look at coles body of work, the ref is a shady character................ thats all i got to say about him.

great win for montiel, ref cole aside, montiel is a world beater!!!

Not the ref's job to worry about how much is left in the round, his job is to stop the fight if a fighter cant protect himself. Dude ate a LOT of punches in a short time. Damn.

I don't see anything wrong with stoppage. He had no idea where he was and kept eating punches. He would have gotten KO'd in the next round. Maybe he'll fight outside of Japan now.

In hindsight it does to me look like Hasegawa was out on his feet.

The ref tells you to protect yourself at all times for a reason. Bell can't save you if you are out on your feet, getting pummeled.
