I don't blame the ref too much. Hasegawa was holding the ropes and looked out of it from the way he was moving. It's all happenin too fast for the ref to know theres 1 second remaining. Hasegawa should have taken a knee.

thanks for the video. His left arm was entwined around the rope and he hang on to it. If he hadn't, he would have fell to the canvass. Instead, he got helplessly pummelled. The referee had no choice as he was already defenseless, the left hanging on the rope, the right down on his side.

He was clearly out of it, was not defending himself and only the ropes held him up.
