Comments Thread For: And New… - BoxingScene's Ratings and Results Update

Boxing has had some strong weeks. The sport about to have its strongest week of the year so far, at least on paper. Off paper, work must be done to keep pace with some stellar action. Can Mosley-Mayweather and Hasegawa-Montiel live up to their promise at Welterweight and Bantamweight? [Click Here To Read More]

Thank you for ranking Mosley as the #1 Welterweight... Im not sure why some sites have Pacquiao ranked #1 at Welterweight? He beat Cotto, who wasn't ranked #1 in the first place, and he had a belt he won that was vacant against a bum, and they fought at a catch weight.. a wonderful performance by Pac but to rank #1 at welterweight over Mosley's performance aginast Margarito who was ranked #1 who he knocked out? come on

      World Welterweight Champion: Vacant

      Top Ten Contenders
      1. Shane Mosley (46-5, 39 KO, WBA Super, 0 Defenses)
      2. Manny Pacquiao (50-3-2, 38 KO, WBO, 0 Defenses)
      3. Floyd Mayweather Jr. (40-0, 25 KO)
      4. Miguel Cotto (34-2, 27 KO)
      5. Andre Berto (26-0, 20 KO, WBC, 4 Defenses)
      6. Joshua Clottey (35-4, 20 KO)
      7. Luis Collazo (30-4, 15 KO)
      8. Vyacheslav Senchenko (30-0, 20 KO, WBA Regular, 1 Defense)
      9. Jan Zaveck (29-1, 17 KO, IBF, 1 Defense)
      10. Selcuk Aydin (19-0, 15 KO)

Ratings Notes…Mayweather and Mosley is for the rightful claim as Welterweight champion of the world. Mosley earned de facto “the man” status when he offed Antonio Margarito and being ****** since shouldn’t have taken away from that. Mayweather was the last lineal champ and retired without losing the crown in the ring…It would have been as such even had Mayweather stayed at rated fourth but, with Cotto’s move to Jr. Middleweight imminent and formally announced, he flips places in the ratings with Mayweather…Berto flips places with Clottey after knocking out Quintana; Quintana exits the ratings which makes room for Aydin.

Previous Champion: Floyd Mayweather (2006-08, Retired)
Consecutive Title Defense Record, Lineal or Other: Henry Armstrong - 18

Because Yordan is better than Mtwaga. But Gamboa has more fights there, so maybe you got a point.

            I can't agree with Mosley at no.1
Also Pac has one defense of his title already

Gamboa has not really beaten a serious contender at any weight yet. A unified titlist from four whole pounds lower gets some credit for his quality when he moves up and keeps winning.
