i had made a post about the differences between shane and floyd as far as them both being african americans. naazim touched on it and i agreed with what he said because the guy i watched this episode with is black himself and he said that is the exact reason why he isnt a fan of mayweather. he feels his attitude and ignorance is a very bad reflection him as a brother. he respects his talent as a boxer but not as an african american man who came up but yet still acts like a child and is clueless 2 the things that really matter in life.

Then again it's not just the money its also the responsibility to take care of his family and I just can't believe this guy doesn't truly love the sport. By his character do you mean the character he displays to promote his fights or do you mean his character and values as a man?
im not saying anyone can do this, we know that isnt true, and it does take a lot of drive, discipline and motivation....but this is his life, he has nothing else to do professionally than to eat well, stay in good shape, then put in a good training camp for each fight. it is a terribly physical job that takes a lot to do...but like i said, these guys having nothing else to do than box and stay fit.

Floyd is a lot like Ali. He torments his opponents but is a very kind hearted man. If Floyd were just this mild mannered dude everyone wants him to be would his fights be nearly this big? I don't think so. I understand what Naz is saying but lost a little respect for him when he made the comment about Manny and from the look on Shane's face he didnt agree either. Bro Naz has just come on the scene and now he's a zen? I don't think so. What does having a fighting family that can protect you in the streets have to do with what Floyd has accomplished in the ring. Naz was trying to insinuate that no one would mess with Floyd in the street because of his family which has nothing to do with the great fighter that Shane is gonna be in the ring with May 1st. If Naz was so smart he would be applauding Floyd's attempt to clean up boxing cause I know he thinks the whole Manny phenom is strange.

First of all, I do agree that Ali and Floyd do taunt their opposition. That's about it. From my reading, and research, I don't think Ali was crasp as Floyd is today, Ali was able to articulate himself better in the public eye. As a matter of fact, Ali, actually stood for much more given the politcal and social climate, at the time. Ali was bigger than boxing. Whereas, Floyd is simply an entertainer. People can admire his "clean up" efforts in PEDs but, he isn't gaining national exposure on social issues. I won't make this a "half truth" either; I do applaud Floyd's efforts to help people (giving turkeys...and....um......helping kids at charity events). But ****m attitude towards the depiction of African Americans is a simple one, whether Floyd is displaying a "character" for TV or not; it's still a negative image. Is ****m Zen? No, he is just being "real", and the general public are taking notice because of the show.

Say what you want my dude Floyd is putting asses in the seats. Never said Floyd was exactly like Ali but a lot like Ali. Ali tormented his opponents. Floyd is a modern day version. Sure Ali stood for a lot more but Floyd has mastered the art of putting asses in the seats, it's all great marketing and not bad for an uneducated inner city kid. Unfortunately America is full of sick people that are gonna think what they wanna think pre and post Floyd. One minute it's rap music now it's Floyd's easily overlooked mouth? Any intelligent person will see Floyd for what he is "A BOXER" not a teacher, politician, policeman, doctor, etc but "A BOXER" and a damn good one at that.

Finally a wise black man such as brother ****m says what people have been thinking all along. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is an embarrasment to the black community. He shows his ignorance all the time and people think it's okay. The only comparison to Ali is that he trash talks. Ali was still someone to be proud of and admired and someone who stood for something. Mayweather is just ****** ignorance at it's best and I'm glad that someone finally addressed it. Although Hopkins also made similar statements in a recent phone interview.
