There are no excuses, the division as a whole is just terrible. The condition of the division, the fighters in it and the Kings offer nothing in terms of star power and entertainment. Most of the fighters and especially the Americans have nothing marketable or interesting about them whatsoever, and frankly the skills and conditioning aren't there in any of the American Heavy Weights at this time at all.

America demands a certain kind of heavyweight fighter, well in order for him to reach an iconic status we do. The man has to be look act and live the part. We want him to be athletically gifted, naturally brutal and have a purpose to either entertain, influence or intimidate every single human being that they come into contact with. Any man that can do all those things in American heavyweight boxing is then forever treated like the champ, problem is Mike Tyson is still that man. Not since Mike have we had one, America needs and desperately wants another iconic champion and we have not even one prospect or pro that even gets close to resembling that.

No excuses at all American Heavyweights are virtually non existent and no amount of what if's or down the roads can dress up the fact that are current contenders are virtually unknown to almost every American citizen is because no one fits the bill and we won't support anyone that isn't special period.

dont give me it is what it is

its a flat-out excuse.... pathetic really
Its the truth, since boxing was taken off of network tv, its basically nonexistent in the U.S. as far as youngsters taking up the craft. All they see is football, basketball, and some baseball, boxing is not in the school system either. If you dont live here, you cant access what's going on.

Ali and Tyson just happened upon boxing, by mistake. Where were the Euro heavys before 2000 since the beginning of boxing, you guys are only talking about the last ten years, but where were the Euros for over 100 years?

        Are you ******ed?

Soviet fighters weren't allowed to turn pro until the 1990s because of the cold war.

Now Soviets are allowed to turn pro and they're ALREADY DOMINATING.

        Eastern European heavyweights are superior.

You are absolutely right about this.

The "they are all in the NBA or NFL" is a weak excuse...

There are a few hundred big men in pro football and basketball.

But there are some 10 to 12 million big young men in the USA, so that leaves nearly 10 to 12 million less a few hundred.

Besides, people that are tall are not necessarily cut out to be top boxers, look at Julius Long, Marcellus Brown and Tye Fields.

Its not a totally crazy theory...

In almost every American sport the athletes are more advanced today then they were 30-40 years ago (BIGGER FASTER STRONGER)....except in boxing.

                Eddie Chambers
is smaller than 1940's Joe Louis! 209 lbs, 6'1 with zero KO power. He has no business being contender in any era, let alone one where super heavyweights(240+) exist.

Arreola has the same speed and body type as the 45 year old George Foreman. So basically he's the shell, of a shell, of another man. Sad thing is, old George probably had better stamina too.

Holyfield is from the previous era. And the fact that he is still here and just as talented as the current Americans half his age is a bad sign.

                ^^^Albert Haynesworth is 6'6 350 lbs

He runs a 4.8 40 which would give him the fastest feet in the division and he also has a 39 inch vertical leap. Imagine if just one of these uber athletes laced up the gloves at a young age instead of a helmet?

lolzzz, already dominating? 1990 was 20 years ago and i've only seen one soviet dominate, and that was kostya. You need to read the bible of boxing for the numbers

                    It's the moneeeeeyyyyyy!!!!!!!

It's not even really about sports...

Pro Basketball and Football come with guaranteed $$$$$$$$ before playing your first f--ing game!! Millions in signing bonuses. Boxing in the U.S. just can't compete with that.

Here's what Pro Boxing could do though.. go after the kids who don't make it to the big leagues. Would make a decent farm system.. as you have built in athleticism to start and there's a reward of $$$ for the kid at the end of the tunnel for a successful run. This goes for White and Black Americans. The Heavyweights of tomorrow are in those sports.

it's actually a legit reason though, even if you don't like hearing it.

It's simple - name me athletic, skilled and in shape american heavyweights? You can't. The best we got that fits that criteria is the bronze medalist. That's it.

Clearly there is a lack of talent.
