If Floyd beats Mosley, is it better than Pacquiao's win over Cotto?

Well he struggled with Mayorga at 154. Shane is better at 147 than 154. There is no proof that Cotto was more in his prime than Shane is right now.

Shane and Cotto fought an evenly match up fight, Cotto got stopped by Margarito, and Shane destroyed Margarito...

Floyd's would be better, simply because Pac was juiced against Cotto.

exactly....ppl look at age, as the determining factor of whether a fighter is prime or not.

i personally look at a decline in skills more. i think the mosley of today beats the cotto of today.....regardless of how old they are.

I would consider the winner of Mosley/Mayweather the no. 1 ww.

I scored the first fight a draw. And, if they fight right now or later in the year. I would predict Shane to beat Cotto. I think Shane could stop him...

I also hate when people try to use age as a way to determine prime....

I don't believe so.. Mosley isn't at the climax of his career and besides a great win against Margarito.. he has looked lack luster as of late. I'm a big fan but I just think he has it anymore.. where as Cotto did.

Cotto beat Mosley straight up. I know it was close but a win is a win. So,if Mayweather beats Shane,he wouldnt be doing something special,Cotto did it too.

Obviously we can't say for certain until we see what kind of shape Shane is in on May 1st but I might have him just edging Pacquiao's Cotto right now going off what I know. I think while, yes, Shane is past his best, he's also adopted a slightly more dynamic approach and is kind of embracing his age rather than letting it drag him down. Plus you just cannot argue with that win over Margarito.

                      Stat-wise...

                      W over Mosley, obviously.
Based on rankings at time of fight, and actual belt(s) held.
Cotto was a bit past-prime, as Shane is today.

I voted for a Mosley win, based on a cold-stats POV.
However, the NATURE of the win counts, in the broader
sense of boxing as a spectator sport:

If all Floyd can manage is a potshotting SD or UD victory,
then Pac's pulping of Cotto still rules, in the public eye
