A tough fight to score. There was alot of close rounds.

I thought Kessler edged it 115-113 though.

I had it 116-112 to Kessler so I agree with the scorecards. There were a lot of close rounds but most of these I think Mikkel just slightly edged. When there were dominant rounds, they were Froch rounds so I can see how that almost creates an illusion that anything other than a close scorecard may look a little dodgy. At the end of the day, Froch didn't do enough most of the time to win the fight. I felt he almost handed it to Kessler with his lack of work rate and lazy backstepping.

A scorecard of 116-112 (or 8 rounds to 4) isn't as wide a margin as it may appear. If I gave just one of those closer rounds to Froch then it would've been 115-113 so that's how close the gap can be.

I scored the fight for Kessler but the scorecard of 117-111 was a disgrace. What do you expect for Roger Tilleman though - the man who single-handedly robbed Robin Reid of a world title. It was a close fight for **** sake.

I think if that if this fight is America, or Britain Froch gets the decsion. I also think that Froch will come out of this better than Kessler. If you look at Kessler at some points (the last 4 or 5 rounds inparticular) he looks like he's been beaten up. Froch's defense was actually OK in this fight, he's never going to be Pernell Whittaker but I actually Froch showed he could box in this fight and really belongs a World level and in this tourney.

Froch though, needed to do more in the middle rounds, and although they were close Kessler did look like he was doing more although Froch was still landing the better punches in my opinion.

But I don't mind Kessler won he's a Warrior and a decent guy to boot. I'd love to see a rematch in the final. BIG UP (****s chest Lennox style) to both fighters on what was one of the fights of the year and a modern classic.

It was a very close fight and I think it depends how you scored the close rounds. If any of you scored the fight based just on a stream, I suggest you download the fight and watch again, because it's often hard to tell which punches land cleanly and which punches are blocked. I was actually surprised that Kessler missed as many punches as he did, as I'd always considered him an accurate puncher. While Froch missed more spectacularly with a few shots (as ever), Kessler missed many more. That said, I still scored the fight to Kessler by a round.

I think that's a good post. Froch is an absolute demon and that fight is not going to do Kessler any good at all. Kessler really looked like a rag doll at times on the end of Froch's punches.

I think Froch will gain a lot of respect in this loss that he was due but not given when he was undefeated.

I had it 115-114 Kessler but the scorecards really pissed me off. Froch, as the champion, shouldn't have lost his title to scorecards like that.

I agree. I was suprised how much bigger Froch looked compared to Kessler (who I thought looked a shadow of the guy who fought Calzaghe physically). I Can't wait for Froch-Abraham fight now.

Totally agree with this post, Froch's game plan in this fight really surprised me and at one point I was thinking 'Damn Carl is actually outboxing him'. It was a close fight and Froch took a break in a couple of the middle of rounds which cost him, although in the end with those judges he probably still would've lost.
