You fail to understand the basic concepts of American culture if you fail to understand the meaning and foundations upon which Naazims statements were made. Get it right. He did not claim Floyd was a representation of the African American male in his entirety. He merely stated the obvious, a factual statement supported through every day life in modern day America. Like it or not, when you're placed in front of the camera and your life is being documented as Floyd's is, people are watching. Sadly, it is a harsh reality, but stereotypes exist. White America in particular, watches not only African Americans, but Mexicans, Arabs, and various other minority groups, and what they see is often times what they believe. Whether it's an artist in a music video or Floyd on 24/7, white America see's that and treat it as if it's a representation of each and every individual that belongs to our race. This thought process breeds stereotypes and stereotypes breed prejudice. Which is why Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., a prominent African American scholar, was arrested outside his home because his presence in the suburb he lived in was "su****ious". It's the same reason why a ****** man wearing a turban is a hundred times more likely to be stopped in an air port and questioned about his whereabouts than a white man. Or why Arizona's is looking to pass a law that makes racial profiling legal, as it's a common belief that the majority of Mexican Americans in the southwestern United States are illegally here, which isn't the case. The media pushes these stereotypes, and white America often treats it as gospel.

Wake up people. This isn't anything new.

Btw, I'm a Floyd fan. But just because I'm a fan of a fighter does not mean he can do no wrong. Am I in a position to judge Floyd? No, but that doesn't necessarily mean I have to agree with, or support everything he does. I can be a constant fan of his skill, and not always be a fan of his character. Though it is wrong, believe it or not, often times when people see Floyd, they also see me. And when people see me, if you're An African American, they also see you. Which is why I live my life to break through barriers.

Honestly this is the most intelligent post in this thread. I'm not saying I agree with ****m but I see where he is coming from. Black people have always been divided on ways of thinking and on various issues and this is one of them. ****m doesn't agree with Floyd's behavior....so what? Why are so many on here crying about it? I remember a thread on Floyd calling Emmanuel Steward an uncle Tom and Floyd fans defending Floyd's words. These same people are a$$ hurt when someone does the same to Floyd....smh

Honesty, I'm AA and have study my history (real history), all the prominent black leaders like De Bois etc, and when I speak and post I'm doing so from the view of those who fought for the advancement of our race. I would drop some knowledge on this, but many in this thread are so ****in ignorant that they don't deserve to be educated like that.

Du bois.. MLKjr were not REALLY about our advancement. Garvey, Malcolm, Steve biko, Kwame, elijah muhammed, huey p, H rap brown, Dr York etc are/were about our advancement.

Floyd is a buffoon. Whether some people view ****ms comments as "we can't look dumb in front of massa" How about being a respectable roll model to your people, thats most likely what he was eluding to. Floyd is a money worshipping, shallow, buffoon.

I wasn't going to even post in this topic, but I see some cats are not as smart as I thought they were...

              Good post man.

Cats have taken what Naz has said, and twisted it to the point of it not even being what he said anymore. I saw the episode, and I for one didn't think it was that bad.

              Whatever-

I don't have time to tell people what Naz said or how to take it...

              Good post once again man.

Whether he is playing a role or not the things he says still carry weight, firstly not everyone can diffrenciate thus some may take his behaviour as an example there are people my age (I'm 21) that really believe he is the man and not because of his ability but because he flaunts his money. He is setting a bad example but shallow people will gravitate towards his behaviour.

Secondly whether he is playing a role or not it does not allow for someone to say vile things. I could be doing stand up comedy and say some real ignorant racist things, should I get a pass because I'm a stand up comedian and I'm on a stage, no? 24/7 is Floyd's stage and just because he is playing a 'role' it does not excuse the things he is saying. We can all agree his insulting shane has crossed the line, talking about his personal life and other things, so after the fight should Shane forgive and forget because Floyd was playing a role?
Put yourself in his shoes, I don't think you would.
Then ****m is not only commentating upon Floyd, but all successful young blk males that flash their money around. Rappers, for instance. Its like he's hating on success. The **** is so respectable about that. Its like, what, blk males when they get money have to be seen but not heard? Can't draw too much attention lest they risk being judged, and as a result, a whole race being judged? Its all bull****. He's hating on success, and he said he would not get in a back and forth with Floyd.

He has. So where's his moral high horse now?

In what way did Floyd cross the line? Its the Mosley camp that has hit below the belt. Floyd was just sayin the **** he always says, "I'll whip your ass" and "I make more money than you."

Mosley camp called him gay.. and said he is a shame to his race.

So who threw the more de****able insults here?

And yes, both sides should forgive and forget after the fight. Don't be like Frazier's bitter old ass, still harboring a grudge and cultivating a hate in his heart after all these years. Let it go, its good for the soul.

If you guys need Floyd to propagate a positive image, you are in worse shape than you realize.

                    • He shouldn't really be saying things like that. It just perpetuates the black on black stereotype. I mean I understand he's frowning upon the actions of Mayweather but black people aren't the only ones that do those sort of things.
