I don't understand why people can't separate the hype from the substance.

Floyd is one of the best boxers of our time.. all his stuff he says to piss off an opponent, or raise controversy is just his way of selling a fight.

If he acted as gentlemanly, and whatever, as y'all seem to want him to, he wouldn't be as big a pay per view attraction. He wouldn't make as much money. So... You would be like, "oh Floyd is so great" if he fit your little concept of how a fighter should be, but he would have trouble sending his grandchildren to college. If I'm faced with a choice between the fans and my grandchildren, then **** the fans, seriously, its all about my family.

Floyd is a sell out, he admits it, fer da check cashing bidness. Although I do sense a little weariness with the Money Mayweather persona. It seems he has taken it too far and he has to keep up this act because its what the public expects. Most casual boxing fans don't realize its an act and all they see is Mayweather acting a fool on national television.

And it's people like you that will ensure that he carries on doing the same ignorant things.
Whether he is playing a role or not the things he says still carry weight, firstly not everyone can diffrenciate thus some may take his behaviour as an example there are people my age (I'm 21) that really believe he is the man and not because of his ability but because he flaunts his money. He is setting a bad example but shallow people will gravitate towards his behaviour.

Secondly whether he is playing a role or not it does not allow for someone to say vile things. I could be doing stand up comedy and say some real ignorant racist things, should I get a pass because I'm a stand up comedian and I'm on a stage, no? 24/7 is Floyd's stage and just because he is playing a 'role' it does not excuse the things he is saying. We can all agree his insulting shane has crossed the line, talking about his personal life and other things, so after the fight should Shane forgive and forget because Floyd was playing a role?
Put yourself in his shoes, I don't think you would.

for me it was the opposite, maybe its because im a ****** myself but even putting that aside i like the way ****m conducts himself. he was saying in an interview earlier on that he doesn't cuss because he knows that folks that his parents knew and folks that raised ****m would put him in line if they caught him cussing.

hes also shown himself to be very sharp, his comments about floyd never really being in any street fights but still portraying the gangsta image were spot on. i think he was right in saying that floyds actions and conduct are distasteful. let me say from an asian perspective if someone like amir khan started to act or talk like that then i would have the same feeling to him as ****m does to little floyd.

i think ****ms old skool approach to boxing and to life has won him a few admirers.

He expressed his opinion and i agree with it. Hopkins and Floyd are nothing alike when it comes to how they approach things with money,etc.

Only thing Floyd and Hopkins do similar is the trash talk for hyping fights.
