WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan has claimed that Argentine Marcos Maidana in fact ducked him and not the other way around.

It was widely thought that Khan had been advised to avoid his heavy handed mandatory challenger but when posed with the question, “What about a boxer who faces his mandatories or ducks them?” on social networking site Twitter, Freddie Roach’s fighter responded,

“He (Maidana) ducked me I still hold my world title, if I ducked him I would of (have) lost it pal”

This could perhaps be a reference to the claim Maidana took ‘pass over’ money, getting paid so Khan would not have to fulfil his obligation to Maidana his mandatory.

Khan takes on Paulie Malignaggi in New York on May 15th in his US debut.

he's talking out of his ass.

either that or he doesn't know GBP paid maidana off to not pursue his mandatory yet.

isn't the goal as a contender to fight the #1 in the division?

maidana fighting bradley is a bigger fight for maidana right? the truth is that khan/maidana NOT happening made sense for both fighters. you're making something out of nothing because you hate khan...

              exactly.

khan gets a big name , big money fight.

maidana gets a shot at the top guy in the division.

both benefited more by not fighting each other.

they both made the right choices.

I'm not saying it's not a better fight from Khan's point of view. Of course it's better. It's not actually that much bigger than Maidana/Khan as some people will tell you but sure, he makes more money, and gets to fight a guy who's taken serious serious beatings against Hatton and Cotto. Also, did I mention Paulie has 5 KOs?

I'm just saying he's ducking Maidana and when he stops ducking him then a brutal Prescott like KO will happen.

                  really?

where would khan-maidana fight in america?

where in america is maidana a draw in? hell where in america will khan be a draw in?

                  there's a reason malignaggi-khan is in new york , malignaggi's hometown.

This is a good post. I figure Khan would outbox him, but I wouldn't be surprised if Maidana swarmed him.

Maidana can be out-boxed and Khan is a good boxer. Khan has also improved his defense a lot and is an overall smarter fighter, now.

Plus, he has arguably the best trainer in the world in his corner.
