rankings change. besides boxrec doesn't count. it's garbage computer rankings.
malignaggi was top 5 on ring magazine a couple months ago. don't know if he still is but he should be top 10. besides he's been top 5 for a couple years now.Comment

I think it's just sketchy how promoters are planning this kids career out.
I mean he had a mandatory against Maidana which would've been
his US debut but he decided to take on Paulie featherfist Falignaggi instead.
The fight was made just so Khan could shine in his US debut.Comment

I don't like Freddy and Arum just creating this kids career so he
can just end up like Ricky Hatton when he steps up to good competition
like a top 3 JWW.
He beat kotelink for the worst belt in the division and hasn't really
fought anyone yet for him to be demanding so much money and praise.
Golden Boy wanted to give Khan a million and Marquez 500K for their
fight. WTF?
He's already thinking he's a diva.
still a belt. kotelnik was still top 3-5 in the division.
that's business stuff.
don't know what the purse split on the marquez fight was. don't care.Comment

maidana hits harder.
doesn't necessarily mean he's better.
malignaggi has been a top 10 fighter at 140 for a long , long time.
he's been in there with guys like hatton and cotto.
him beating the former 3-belt titleholder at 135 in juan diaz is a better win than beating a young prospect in ortiz. though ortiz is very good. (we all know ortiz gave that one away. he could have won easily with the right game plan)
He looked plain horrendous against Lovemore... got absolutely smashed by Hatton and split 2 fights with Diaz. Now, all of those three are good fighters but if you want my opinion Maidana blasts them all inside the distance (I think he would have knocked Hatton out who was hurt badly twice by Lazcano)
Some people really can't get past Maidana's technique and give him credit. I'm telling you though, he is fast, has a good chin, throws all kinds of punches and has an awesome heart. The loss to Kotelnik is no issue for me as it was a decision in Germany.
Anyone who thinks Khan could outbox Maidana for 12 rounds is absolutely tripping. Maidana I would actually say has skills on par with Khan, except his doesn't have his speed.
People might give me **** for that but to be honest: Where is Khan's inside game? Where is his defense past making a little shell with his gloves? Where is his apparently awesome power? I'm not even going to mention his chin.
Maidana does everything as good as Khan apart from take a punch and give a punch which he does better. Khan is faster though.
As for the Maidana Maliganggi fight... Paulie is easy to hit. Diaz was using his head as a speed ball in the first fight in some rounds. Paulie's a tough dude but at this stage in his career he's not going to take Maidana's shots for long... he punches harder than 140 Cotto and Hatton. Plus, you think Paulie can keep Maidana away for 12? Nope.Comment

tua is talking a lot of sense. why are u so hateful towards khan rabagiyo? i dont get why u are expending so much energy hating on an exciting young fighter. why not focus on fighters who you like?
bottom line is that khan/malignaggi is a much, much bigger fight than khan/maidana. why would khan duck maidana? where have u got the idea that khan is the type of fighter who avoids tough fights? remember that prescott was an unbeaten ko machine when he fought khan, and it was khan who chased the fight after being advised not to fight him. it just seems like u have an axe to grind with khan for some reason. is it because khan beat your fellow mexican barerra?
people in england dont have a clue who maidana is, whereas we do know who malignaggi is, so its also a much easier sell to the ppv audience in england. plus malignaggi knows how to sell a fight. it is also frustrating that you are running down malignaggi when the guy is a beautiful boxer. he has no power but he has an abundance of other skills and is a perfectly legitimate opponent for khan that makes far more sense than maidana at this moment in time.
and how is it khan's fault that golden boy wanted to pay khan more than marquez? your point doesnt make a blind bit of sense.Comment

Malinaggi is top 6 in the division right now sure... But let's really look at what he has done recently.
He looked plain horrendous against Lovemore... got absolutely smashed by Hatton and split 2 fights with Diaz. Now, all of those three are good fighters but if you want my opinion Maidana blasts them all inside the distance (I think he would have knocked Hatton out who was hurt badly twice by Lazcano)

listen , i don't care if you think maidana can ko khan or not.
it's possible. maidana is a hard puncher.
my issue is people saying he's ducking and scared and he's wussing out.
all maidana is a SANCTIONING BODY mandatory. i think salita was a SANCTIONING BODY mandatory too.
he's fighting a top guy in his division for more money , who has a bigger name in malignaggi. can't fault him for that.
SANCTIONING BODY mandatories don't mean **** to me.
they're goofballs.Comment

khan is a ppv fighter in britain.
opponent name recognition is important to sell the fight.
the british know malignaggi from the hatton fight.Comment
