i have so much respect for shane..especially way back in his prime...i think the 2001 mosley has a greater chances in beating floyd, pac and cotto. but now, i think he'll get KO by pac and outbox by floyd..

real talk we blacks don't support our people. Tyson was the last & many people stopped watching pr giving a **** when he stopped. Even floyd don't get the support you think he gets. Most blacks only heard of him but couldn't tell you 3 of his fights. All they know is he undefeated. Anything outside of football & basketball most of us don't care & know little about it. The sad part is most of the big names be black.

Shane has no fan base because he is boring. You have to understand boxing, like most sports, is half about the sport and the other half is business. If you have no charisma or don't let people know who you are, you ain't gonna be too popular, unless you are amazingly great. You really have to market yourself the right way. Having a lot of losses(yes, 5 in today in many casual boxing fans eyes is considered a lot) and steroids isn't going to help either.

Shane never attempted to go mainstream

Shane never got into commercial roles, he never appeared on any other television shows like Dancing with the Stars, WWE, etc. I believe Shane did make one appearance on a TV sitcom, but he didnt make it a priority to cross over. Shane just wants to fight and you hear him say it over and over again. Shane also made two bad career decisions. One, he never should have fought Vernon Forrest and he should have never fought Winky Wright. Those 4 losses to those 2 guys really destroyed the momentum of his career. If I was managing Shane, after the first Dela Hoya fight, I would have immediately sought after a fight with Felix Trinidad at 147 or 154. I beleive he would have beaten Trinidad and then he could have rematched Oscar and then had a rematch with Trinidad at 154. Those 4 fights against those 2 guys would have took Shane career to another level in terms of bigger paydays against guys who command larger audiences. Despite the fact that he didnt take advantag of those possible Trinidad fight, he was still good enough to fight his way back to the top with wins over Margarito and a good showing against Cotto. Some fighters seek the mainstream attention but then there are others who could care less about mainstream attention and Shane is one of those fighters.
