Emanuel Steward - heavyweight division is the weakest that I ever saw it

Not only did he not say Wlad wasnt an all time great, but here is his argument for the Heavyweight division being the weakest:

"I think it’s worse now because you don’t have anything coming from the amateurs. That’s what troubles me."

So he is saying it's weak b/c there are no good amatures.

If Toyota says toyota has the best cars...Great thats what toyota is supposed to say! I may believe them, I may not.

But if Toyota says that their cars are f#king up on the road and this is the worst era of Toyotas ever, I will tend to believe them because they have nothing to gain by saying this truth....except integrity.

A: Right now, I think his last fight even though it wasn’t seen that much, is the first time that people are taking up notice that maybe we may have something special on our hands that we’re not really appreciating. I’m just reading what I see on these internet comments, and oh he’s been too cautious, he’s too this, he’s too that—but I think the public is starting to look at all of the knockouts, still, that he’s accumulating. So he’s right there still, just starting to get on the borderline where I’m just reading the fans that, the people have said maybe he is possibly going to be a great fighter because of his unbelievable one punch knockout power that you just don’t see from anyone, but right now he hasn’t arrived yet.

There’s, unfortunately for him, no big super fights but if he continues this totally dominating run for I say two years, and the way it looks maybe three years, he’s going to be considered up there. You’ll see these printouts about what would Wladimir Klitschko have done with a George Foreman—he would have moved into that era of those types of conversations. A David Haye fight would throw him right into that mix of being considered if he had an impressive knockout over a David Haye or something like that. He just is starting to get people to start thinking a little bit about the fact that he may be a little better than we give him credit for, just the fact that he’s still holding onto the title now after about almost two years or three years.

He did not actually answer the question. He told the interviewer what he though the general public thought.

What he said about the current HWD is more damaging than what the general public thinks. Hes basically saying the names on Wlads resume' are garbage. The fact that WLad was ko'd by 3 of these garbage guys and refused to avenge some of those losses will be the nail in coffin for his legacy.

SOME People say Calzghe only fought bums too, but Joe has his undefeated record as a safety net. Wlad has nothing.

The thing is whenever people don't lose it is because of bad opposition, if the Klitchko's fought each other say 3 times Wlad won 1 Vitali won 2 they would both be classed as ATG and the era of boxing would actually be quite good, as this isn't going to happen they need another champion to stay at the top and fight each other for a few fights eg. Ali - Frazier, Lewis - Holyfield.

Steward basically just said Wlad will go down as an ATG in the Heavyweight division.

He said a couple more years and he will be an all time great and there's not foreseeable good competition in the future.

ATG in heavy > ATG in suppermiddle.

I'll make another analogy for you: if a guy says something bad about something he has an interest in promoting, it means that the guy is unbiased, so I can believe he'll tell the truth in everything concerning that.
