I have Mosley #1. He beat the #1 and sought fights with Pacquiao and Mayweather last year only to have them avoid him.

That's where all this confusion is. That #1 you're talking about is number 1 rank, not the champion. Only the champion needs to be defeated to lose his position. If you take a close look at ring rankings, you see:

Champion..................Vacant

1. MP
2. Sugar
3. FMJ

Those 1, 2, 3 are contenders, they are not the champions. To reestablish the lineage ring has adopted the policy that #1 and 2 contenders fight.

Margo was the #1 ranked contender when Shane defeated him. However, Shane has one year inactivity while Pac fought the #2 Cotto and #5 Clottey, thus moving ahead of the rankings. Again that #1 ranking is for the contenders, not the champ and will be revised from time to time depending on the developments of the division.

I respect ring magazine rankings the most , Floyd can't have that except going thru Manny . I think after Mosely is thru with him he will have serious second thoughts about getting in the ring with the PAC-MAN ?

Interesting. Either way, Shane or Floyd will be champ after May 1.
