    • Anything to discredit Floyd, threads like this only prove that just cause you post on a boxing forum doesn't mean you know sh-t about boxing.

      • ur trippin loc, mayweathers defence, ring generalship, and just skills had JMM looking more helpless than he's ever been, mayweather outclassed marquez.

that's why floyd didn't sign his contract until 1-2 days before the fight, so he could pull this bogus bull**** and come in overweight. by the time floyd (and guzman) let it be known they weren't making weight, it was way too late because the promotion has gone too far and jmm (and funeka) weren't gonna pull out. these guys are scam artists.

so if you ask me did floyd do it on purpose. yeah, of course he did. floyd isn't the type of guy to leave any stone unturned. he ain't fighting nobody unless he is 100% sure of victory a head of time.

i ain't saying boxing skills weren't involved, but floyd's size helped him take the shots that jmm was throwing and he physically intimidated jmm. even after the fight jmm estimated that floyd was about 20 lbs heavier than him.

like I said before, we don't know what would've happened if floyd made weight. that's all I'm saying. and that's not to say floyd wouldn't have won, that's just saying you can't separate the weight factor from the fight, because it definitely was a factor in the fight.
It wouldn't really matter if Floyd made the 144 "limit". Obviously he knew about a clause in the contract that stated he could be above that weight. It wouldn't really matter anyway, as it was a non-title fight. But it's just a sign that says to me how much bigger Floyd was that night. Floyd had no business fighting Marquez, other than 10 years ago when he was at 135. What if Floyd fought Marquez instead of Castillo (who pwned him the first time they fought)? It would be a highly competitive bout.

If you think size doesn't matter, you're out of your mind. Remember when Arturo Gatti didn't make weight and got sued? Arturo weighed 20 pounds more than his opponent on fight night. What about Castillo-Corrales 2? The bigger fighter always has an un-teachable advantage. I concede an advantage for Floyd in speed, ubt that's about it. Skill-wise, FMJ and JMM are very competitive.

Ummm... that being said, I believe Mosley will dominate and destroy Mayweather.

          • You guys are such morons, you Mayweather fans. You use the same defense all the time. I don't hate Mayweather, I like him. But Mosley is gonna bring a lot of tears to you guys, and I can't wait.

I'll even use the triangle theory...JMM a lot of people especially Mayweather fans who want ot prove Pacquiao is garbage say that Juan won at least one of the fights. O.k., so Pacquiao beat up Hatton and De La Hoya worse htan Mayweather did. He even stopped Cotto (a guy who Floyd wouldn't even fight).

A lot of you guys are gonna say, "wait DLH is a big guy"...but Pacquiao is just untouchable. He's so skilled that he puts himself in a position where he can't be hit but he hits his opponent. He does it with power too. He's like a Mike Tyson/Bruce-Mohamad Ali (Snatch). He's so brilliant that he does this and beats the bigger fighters... Would he beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. though? I don't know...But Mosley will.

            • He didn't outsize him in a bullying way, but his physical attributes helps a lot.

              His range and speed.

A small skillful guy won't beat a bigger skillful guy.

              However Mayweather is more skillfull.

Floyd was making Marquez miss by ducking UNDER Dinamita's punches. And then countering.

That is essentially the textbook definition of outskilling somebody.

At 135, Floyd would have been so much faster and more mobile and the gap would have been even wider.

Floyd beats Marquez ten times out of ten. At any weight.

...and I'm a big Marquez fan.

Thank you. About five people in this thread know what I'm saying. The rest are blinded by love and affection for Floyd, or just simply don't know anything about boxing and matchups.

Wait so then what happened in the JLC fight? Floyd is supposed to be so fast and mobile? The gap was so wide in that fight, right? JLC owned Mayweather the first fight.

                    • Floyd could have stopped him but he was afraid to engage - Believe it, watch it again. JMM is a first class counter puncher, and he did land some decent punches, Even with a little Guy Like JMM - Mayweather did not want a toe toe battle. JMM is just as skilled, but the size was a huge advantage for Floyd. A good bog man always beats a good little man. Now Floyd is fighting Shane, and SHane will put it on him.
