Marquez's defense isn't all that good, his offense is his defense really.

Regarding this thread, Mayweather outskilled Marquez although he had every advantage you could imagine in his favor (size, speed, defense, power, etc.)
    Right. ........

Floyd came in 2lbs extra and paid JMM $600k. Guzman came in 12 pounds heavier and paid $25k. We all know how Floyd loves $ and you can tell that **** wasn't on purpose. JMM earned more $ with Floyd coming 2lbs than he earned fighting Manny Paqcuiao the 1st time or Chris John or Rocky Juarez.

JMM called out Floyd got his wish got paid and lost a 1 sided fight. Nothing that JMM did that night worked. Props to JMM for lasting 12 rounds. Did JMM make more $ fighting FLoyd than his whole career combined IDK?

The reason why Floyd won is because a good big guy always beats a good little guy. When you fight lighter/smaller guys you're more relaxed because it doesn't require as much work, and it's in reverse when you fight bigger guys. As a result, fighters begin to tire and slow down, and it looks to be a mismatch, but it's really the size difference. If you don't believe me, go to the gym and spar with a smaller kid who's a little bit better than you technically but not as old/heavy as you naturally and you will see. Floyd had all the advantages in the fight, and easily won. But it was NOT because of a technical mismatch.

Juan Manuel Marquez actually laid the blueprint on how to get to Mayweather. And Marquez landed clean shots throughout the fight (especially early), although they were not effective because JMM is no Welterweight. Juan was timing Mayweather before Juan got knocked down espcialy you could see Juan timing the leaping left hook especially. Something that I picked up on Floyd and Shane should use this over and over is to time Mayweather's lead hook. Floyd throws the punch (or steps in with the jab to the body) ONLY when his opponent takes a half step back (a get out of range step). Marquez picked up on it and was using it. If Mosley exploits this tendency, he won't land a weak but clean punch, he'll knocke Mayweather out.

If you thought Mayweather looked good with his defense and offense against Marquez, and you think he'll do the same to Mosley, THINK AGAIN.
This is one of the worst threads with the worst arguments I've read so far....In one of the most one sided fights in compubox history, the boxing "expert" says he was being out-skilled and laid the blueprint for SSM....are you SERIOUS??!...LMFAO

I would consider the HBO team boxing experts. Even they said that Mayweather's style was especially effective (as he was using the jab) because of the size difference.

No. Joe Frazier's style was all wrong for George Foreman. If Mayweather's style was all wrong, he'd have stopped Marquez. But he didn't. Floyd even looked a bit confused sometimes when he simply couldn't find certain shots and how to get them off.

                  WATCH THE FIGHT AGAIN.

man of course floyd came in overweight on purpose. funny you should mention guzman, who also came in overweight on purpose. these guys cheating the system.

that's why floyd didn't sign his contract until 1-2 days before the fight, so he could pull this bogus bull**** and come in overweight. by the time floyd (and guzman) let it be known they weren't making weight, it was way too late because the promotion has gone too far and jmm (and funeka) weren't gonna pull out. these guys are scam artists.

so if you ask me did floyd do it on purpose. yeah, of course he did. floyd isn't the type of guy to leave any stone unturned. he ain't fighting nobody unless he is 100% sure of victory a head of time.

i ain't saying boxing skills weren't involved, but floyd's size helped him take the shots that jmm was throwing and he physically intimidated jmm. even after the fight jmm estimated that floyd was about 20 lbs heavier than him.

like I said before, we don't know what would've happened if floyd made weight. that's all I'm saying. and that's not to say floyd wouldn't have won, that's just saying you can't separate the weight factor from the fight, because it definitely was a factor in the fight.

                    • Title of thread is correct. PBF didnt have better skills than JMM. He was just more of an athlete on the night, due to JMM being bloated with urine.
