But marquez has never had the defense floyd has, or has even been known for his defense at all. Just his ability to "fire back" with precision. Although the counter puncher vs counter puncher aspect plays a huge roll, lets not forget the difference in defenses.

It's true.

The reason why Floyd won is because a good big guy always beats a good little guy. When you fight lighter/smaller guys you're more relaxed because it doesn't require as much work, and it's in reverse when you fight bigger guys. As a result, fighters begin to tire and slow down, and it looks to be a mismatch, but it's really the size difference. If you don't believe me, go to the gym and spar with a smaller kid who's a little bit better than you technically but not as old/heavy as you naturally and you will see. Floyd had all the advantages in the fight, and easily won. But it was NOT because of a technical mismatch.

Juan Manuel Marquez actually laid the blueprint on how to get to Mayweather. And Marquez landed clean shots throughout the fight (especially early), although they were not effective because JMM is no Welterweight. Juan was timing Mayweather before Juan got knocked down espcialy you could see Juan timing the leaping left hook especially. Something that I picked up on Floyd and Shane should use this over and over is to time Mayweather's lead hook. Floyd throws the punch (or steps in with the jab to the body) ONLY when his opponent takes a half step back (a get out of range step). Marquez picked up on it and was using it. If Mosley exploits this tendency, he won't land a weak but clean punch, he'll knocke Mayweather out.

If you thought Mayweather looked good with his defense and offense against Marquez, and you think he'll do the same to Mosley, THINK AGAIN.

JMM landed a single meaningful punch in rd 2.........apart from that he was soundly outboxed and out skilled. TS is a dumbass.

Gotta ask does gaining that much like Marquez did slow you down? That is the reason Marquez looked so bad, not because Mayweather is sooooooooo good! that and the fact he was still facing a bigger stronger man.

I'm not hating on Floyd. I just know how to watch fights. I watch the close details. If you see the details I see, you would know. I have almost all of Floyd's career on my hard drive and I study him all the time. I know. I study boxing a lot. I know how matchups work. A lot of you do not.

Rgoer was a 2 time world champ and Jeff and Floyd Sr. were both solid pros with experience. Just because a guy isn't a top 10 p4p elite level fighter doesn't mean he can't fight. Again, if you fought for real you would know that.

Why does criticism of Floyd automatically mean we are "hating". You guys are such women. You guys really are like a bunch of women when it comes to criticizing Mayweather.

if that fight did not display floyd "out-skilling" an opponent, then i don't know what will. floyd dodged, ducked, and blocked most of marquez's offenses and hit him with pin point accuracy. if marquez was more skilled or just as skilled as floyd that night, he would have landed more significant shots like the ones he landed early in the fight. by landing those early shots, marquez proved that the size difference did not matter because it was possible for him to land.
