He was going up against a speedy Martinez that he was in no way going to be able to keep up with in the early rounds because of lack of speed. so he stalked, measured distance and let martinez expend energy. by round 6 Pavlik was in full control of the fight and making martinez work extra hard to create space to work with, and came in behind the double jab. it was an excellent gameplan.

FLoyd used 2%.....get out of here with tht bull****. Pacquiao knocked Marquez down 3 times in one fight. Pacquiao maybe gave 100 percent more agianst Hatton and DLH but look Floyd didn't looke good in those fights. We know that Pac gave 100 more than Floyd agianst Cotto because Floyd would never in a million years fight prime Cotto before Margarito.

Hatton was served to pacquiao dont forget..floyd fought hatton when he was undefeated and he took away his "0"...de la hoya came in weight drained against pacquiao when he was fighting floyd he was at his best weight you probably didnt see the fights so you won't know.

I'd be inclined to agree, but I think Marquez gives him a better fight at 130, and I don't think Floyd stops him or comes close to it.

I agree, how much better I don't know. Even if this fight were to be fought at a weight division that Juanita is better in. You'd have to assume that Juanita's strategy/fighting style would be the same exact one he employed against Phony Boy, which is the same one that's he's been using throughout his career.

I simply don't see how that strategy could work against someone taller, faster, and has a much better jab than the shorter guy. I just see Phony Boy keeping Juanita at the end of his jab, over and over again.

In order for Juanita to be competitive, he'd have to press more, but I do think he would've been busier at the lower weights.

yea thats why he fought the last 5 rounds with his hands down on his waist..you can't do that with an dangerous opponent.

You said Mayweather didnt outskill Marquez? I don't get it. He outlanded him 290 to 69. Forget saying Marquez is a terrible offensive fighter, I know he likes to counter punch but his offence was good enough to beat most of the guys he fought. Why was Marquez able to land at will against Pacquiao and hardly land at all against Mayweather? It has nothing to do with size, It's all about skills.

People will say Mayweather won because Marquez is a counter puncher. That's a ****** thing to say as Floyd is a counter puncher too. So it makes no difference. The thing is that in addition to counter punching Mayweather is also a very good defensive fighter (unlike Marquez) and can use the jab and right hand better than Marquez. This is why he beat him so convingly, Because he has more aspects to his game than Marquez does.

The absolute best way to put it, right there.
Marquez and Floyd are both counter punchers, but floyd is also a defensive fighter. Beautiful.
