These two posts are exactly what would make it interesting, Martinez is about three inches taller and probably has about the same reach advantage over Mayweather, and Mayweather is the more skilled fighter. At which point does the size advantage overcome the skill advantage, and vice versa.

I think Martinez might be a bit a big for Floyd.

Sergio by brutal knock out! Sergio got edged out by Paul the Punisher Williams most feared man in boxing! Beat Cintrons a** by a couple rounds and came within a tenth of a second of a legitimate ko. Only Margarito has knocked out Cintron twice. Sergio gets hit quite a bit but he is slick as hell. Puts a beat down on Mayweather. Mayweather is overrated!

Most likely Mayweather wins on points, but Sergio would have a better shot than Mosley or Pac. Can't see Martinez outpointing Mayweather a majority of the rounds, and if he uses his size to impose to much, he'd be outcountered. Martinez would have to fight the perfect fight. And Mayweather at 154 would be a welterweight, like he was in the Oscar fight, so I can't imagine him being negatively effected by weight.

Now lets assume Mayweather beats SSM, not exactly a stretch. How about Floyd vs Martinez at 154 this fall. Floyd has fought and won at 154 vs DLH, but I feel Martinez would be a tougher fight. Who wins, how, and why?
this would be a very tough fight for both guys. floyd will barely win by the skin of his teeth.

great point---but i don't see howo sergio would really trouble floyd like that--he is bigger--but floyd has proven time and time again that he can fight small and dominate a bigger man----sergio's southpaw style can trouble floyd some--but floyd is more elusive with his balance and timing---sergio is slick, no doubt, but floyd is elusive all around the board, and his defense is so much better than sergio's---floyd can stand still against sergio, and make him miss him like he's never missed people before--sergio would not beat floyd at 154---no doubt about---

Martinez also is not very accurate and is a wild swinger at times which opens himself up to be countered at will.

Mayweather is the master of NOT being hit...Sergio is fast but hes not as fast as Floyd is.

Mayweather would beat him to the punch all night and make him pay for fighting with his hands low.

Martinez also has bad stamina.....and after about 9 rounds of Chasing Floyd around, getting clinched and hitting air..hell be past tired.

Just because had success against a guy like Williams who struggle with southpaws and didn't have a good game plan or strategy doesn't mean he stands a chance in hell vs. Mayweather.

Mayweather would beat Martinez down. Two complete different levels of fighters.
Another win for Floyd in imagination land what is he now 300-0 with 299KO. You clowns make me laugh Floyd doesn't have the balls to fight a guy like Martinez.
