Mayweather vs Sergio Martinez at 154

I am picking Martinez to beat Pavlik, possibly by late round TKO. If he does he will have belts in two divisions. Even if he loses he will still be the 154 pound champ. Now lets assume Mayweather beats SSM, not exactly a stretch. How about Floyd vs Martinez at 154 this fall. Floyd has fought and won at 154 vs DLH, but I feel Martinez would be a tougher fight. Who wins, how, and why?

Martinez fights with his hands low...you can get away with that vs, Sluggers like Williams and Cintron.....Against Floyd that opens the flood gates for a str8 right festival against the south paw Martinez.

Martinez also is not very accurate and is a wild swinger at times which opens himself up to be countered at will.

Mayweather is the master of NOT being hit...Sergio is fast but hes not as fast as Floyd is.

Mayweather would beat him to the punch all night and make him pay for fighting with his hands low.

Martinez also has bad stamina.....and after about 9 rounds of Chasing Floyd around, getting clinched and hitting air..hell be past tired.

Just because had success against a guy like Williams who struggle with southpaws and didn't have a good game plan or strategy doesn't mean he stands a chance in hell vs. Mayweather.

Mayweather would beat Martinez down. Two complete different levels of fighters.

1st Floyd would never take this fight.

Honestly no one at 147 is gonna beat Martinez at 154, and I'm not saying this because I'm caught up in the hype. If Martinez and Floyd did somehow fight I can see a 8-4 round descision for Martinez. He is just too big, fast and quick for Floyd.

just picture Zab vs Floyd rounds 1-4 happening throughout all 12 rounds.

A super-quick, southpaw counter-puncher with pop in both hands and naturally bigger. Great fight, but Floyd would never take it.

It's not a mismatch at all. Floyd can still do well against him.

          Defense: Floyd > Sergio

          Offense: Sergio > Floyd

          Speed: Floyd = Sergio

I would have to watch Floyd and Sergio back to back to say who is faster because its very close, and Sergio having bad stamina? really? based on what being in a 12rd back and forth battle will PWill who is a punching machine.

He has slightly less stamina than PWill, and even if he did have bad stamina, Floyd doesn't put any pressure at all or throw very man punches so they would both not really be pushing each others conditioning.

Zab and Martinez fight ZERO alike. You act like Floyd doesnt know how to adjust. Zab early in fights is a better fighter then Martinez by far.

Didnt you say Pac would beat Martinez?

No...I actually think Pac might get stopped by Martinez, unless he does something crazy like knock Floyd or Shane out. Martinez is way too big for Manny IMO, but again if he continues to dominate....I will change my opinion on him vs Martinez

I think 147 is the max for Manny and even that's pushing it in my book (I think he is getting by on talent alone)

Again, I feel Martinez is too big and fast for guys like Mosley, Mayweather and Pacquiao. This is why I say no one at that class beats him, just like I feel no one below 160 beats Pavlik. At some point a guy is just too big and those guys give up too much size to win a fight.

I think Pac can fight at 154. But not 160.

Martinez is no bigger then Oscar really. They are almost the same size.

I think Martinez is very overrated. Hes shown me nothing that says he would even be competitive vs. a guy like Mayweather. Just two different levels of fighters.

Sergio wins. 154 is too much for Floyd. Remember, he started very low. He's not even fighting his best af 140, even worse at 147, it would be slowmotion (for Floyd standard) to fight at 154.
