Dunno, don't care
Sergio Martinez will STOP Kelly "The Skinhead" Pavlik

It is certainly a dynamic of styles. Pavlik (the taller guy) is slow and moves forward, when he should be taking a step back or to the side and Martinez (the smaller guy) likes to fight on the outside against taller fighters (and jump in to counter).
I would like to think Pavlik has learned to keep fighters like Martinez at the end of a jab,cut off the ring and assert his superior power...but we have seen no hints or suggestions that he has learned this in previous fights.
The only way I see this is Sergio winning by decision or stoppage (for all of those saying "Pavlik has never been stopped, guess what? There is a 1st time for everything),or Pavlik by stoppage-unless he has a solid gameplan on how to deal with speed and lateral movement.Sergio has the potential to win by more ways than Kelly.
Pavlik really needs to get a new trainer...Jack Leow has not taught Kelly anything beyond a 1,2 and pressure fighting. He needs someone to teach him a bit of footwork or he will always struggle...I don't expect Kelly to transform into a slick fighter, but he can learn a few things involving his limitations...he just needs to identify what he is lacking....
If he hasn't learned anything in the past and still fights slow, this can look like Manny vs Oscar (and no,I don't wanna hear the "but Oscar was drained"...I am only using this example as an analogy where one fighter was slow and plodding, while the other had good in and out of danger movement and combo punches!)Last edited by damned1974; 04-17-2010, 08:11 AM.Comment

The problem is Pavlik's predictability. When you fight poor boxers 9or a guy named Jermain) you can get away with that. But when you are facing a guy like Sergio, and you only have two punches in your arsenal, that spells trouble. It is certainly a dynamic of styles. Pavlik (the taller guy) is slow and moves forward, when he should be taking a step back or to the side and Martinez (the smaller guy) likes to fight on the outside against taller fighters (and jump in to counter).

How is Kelly's upper cut? His inside fighting? His short left hook? His hook to the body? Does he jab to the body? Does he fight going backwards? How is his defense?
It's pretty obvious why some support him. But let's be truthful about Kelly's limitations as a fighter.Comment

I like how other "men" on here take time to comment on things they say they don't care about....instead of just choosing from the 50,000 threads they do care about.Comment
