Saying something is overrated doesn't mean it ****** or was bad, it just means people give it to much credit.

I agree to an extent. People have told me that it was different seeing it live, especially given the magnitude of the fight and it being two ATGs at/near the top of their game.

As it is, I don't rank this fight THAT high on my list, as there's others I like considerably more.

              I understand what you mean.

When I think of the best fights I have seen from past to present, Hagler-Hearns doesn't exactly stand out as a top 10 fight but I understand what people are talking about having to be part of the hype to feel the way they did. I think my love for defensive boxers. i.e. two great boxers(atm) going at it and 1 of them gets dominated badly. Duran-Leonard II/Ali-Foreman/ and Mayweather-Corrales/Jones-Toney/Mosley-Margarito are the type of great fights I like.

The back and forth "war" Gatti-Ward, Vazquez-Marquez are entertaining as hell but they just don't do it for me. Pascal-Froch is an exception though, that was a great fight.

They landed clean hard blows because they both have a **** defence and are quite one dimensional.
Both Hagler and Hearns are skillful boxers who met at the pinnacle of their careers and chose to brawl like a street fight.

Really it could be seen as one of the hardest punchers in the sport, Hearns, versus the best chins in the sport, Hagler.

I love the Vazquez-Marquez fights. All wars fought with an incredible skill level. Of course I appreciate hard hitting action over subtle skill though.

As far as Hagler-Hearns goes and the hype.....I can remember watching that fight and feeling the electricity and anticipation. Different than many of todays fights. I think todays fights or OVER HYPED because of so much coverage and the internet that I've become a bit immune to it. Of course that doesn't go for seeing a fight live. Any big fight I see live and that old feeling comes creeping back.

I disagree. I watched this live and I thought it was great. it totally helped get me into boxing. but I guess in this day and age when you can see fights online from all eras and anytime you want, it might lose s0Me luster

if Mayweather-Mosley went down like Hagler-Hearns, ppl on here would go ape****
