see my comment above. if alvarez is lined up for that title shot and wins, who would he defend it against? IMO, you dont put a fighter who still needs experience, seasoning and development in a situation where he has to defend a title. you'd just get another khan or berto situation.

I would say you want Canelo to be in a Khan or Berto situation. He is at a point in his carrier, where he wishes to fight more quality opponents, using his belt as bait. Say he beats J. Cotto, and proceeds to win IBF champ. Who is going to gun for Alvarez?

Just a prospect. This kid has the goods. He can get tagged sometimes but hes 19 so defensive lapses are expected. He has good footwork, good speed, a good jab and GREAT power. In both hands. He has a dangerous right hand that he throws like how Floyd used to throw at 130. His left hook is nasty and shoots it from a distance like a jab/uppercut.

Hes accurate and hes always composed and doesnt panic in the ring. Hes pretty damn good for 19 years old. Hes very skilled and doesnt brawl like the typical Mexican Warrior. Hes the real deal.

I'm not seeing what every one else sees. This guy is flat footed, he drops his left to hook with no jab, he leaves his jab hanging out there when he does jab and he's slow. He has a gaudy record hecho en Mexico, but who has he beat? He's only 19, but the ring can age a guy in 60 minutes or less. I hope DLH is talking about one of those nickle and dime titles, because he's really not ready for any of the monsters at welter. I know a few Jr. welters that might beat him. Maybe later he'll get better, but not now.
