Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Cotto or Alvarez, Winner Gets a Title Shot

The president of Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya, is confident the winner of Saul Alvarez vs. Jose Miguel Cotto will be in line for a title shot. A few days ago Cotto discussed his desire to fight for a major world title. A potential title shot is the biggest reason he took the fight against Alvarez at the welterweight limit. Cotto's best fighting weight is at 135 or 147. [Click Here To Read More]

No, No, and No Oscar... Damn it can you guy at GBP learn to protect your prospects your hurting your business... Let's say Carnelo wins... so you're saying he's ready to fight Berto let alone one of the three headed monsters of Floyd, Shane, or Manny. SMH, you're gonna ruin the kid... Let him fight atleast another 3-4 fights against solid 147 competition then talk about a title shot he's like 19-20 years old

          Canelo vs. Zaveck.

          Lets do it.

He beats the brakes off Zaveck.

Just a prospect. This kid has the goods. He can get tagged sometimes but hes 19 so defensive lapses are expected. He has good footwork, good speed, a good jab and GREAT power. In both hands. He has a dangerous right hand that he throws like how Floyd used to throw at 130. His left hook is nasty and shoots it from a distance like a jab/uppercut.

Hes accurate and hes always composed and doesnt panic in the ring. Hes pretty damn good for 19 years old. Hes very skilled and doesnt brawl like the typical Mexican Warrior. Hes the real deal.

              Here is his last fight:

He does have some pop and good timing too, the speed is nothing to be in awe of but for 19 he seem to be something and has talent.

This kid needs some more fights against contenders for past prime champs to get him ready.

Him vs Aydin or him vs Corley along those lines before he steps up to the big leagues.

, he's 19 years old and he is going into his 5yr being a pro boxer , I know zab , or collazo wouldn't find fight him cuz zab wants to go back down to 140 and collazo planning a poss fight with I think Aydin later but I would like to see him fight some of those to see how he takes those styles before getting a Chance at a title , even though he could be ready for the "weak" 147 belt holders,
