wonder if HBO will eventually start buying the best fight available instead of force feeding people their champsComment

FNF HAS HAD BETTER FIGHTS THEN HBO THIS YEAR. Agenda or no agenda he has facts. If **** like this keeps happening who the *** is gonna air big fights? They can't keep losing moneyAnother agenda piece from that fat **** Rafael. And he wrote this because [per a few reports at the venue] Al Haymon nearly ***** smacked him backstage. What he should focus on are the horrendous mismatches on ESPN and how ESPN only pays 25-30K per event when the guys in the broadcast booth make more money than the actual fighters. The only network were the announcers make more than the actual fighters in the ring.Comment

Hes not a big draw yet. Thats what HBO is for.unless you just paid attention for the last 30 seconds of the bout, i wouldnt call it impressive or a buzz generating win.
and no, he didnt have a nice crowd to see him.
if those numbers in the article are even remotely correct, then that event was an epic failure. HBO cant just sweep that under the rug.
There were some celebs there to see him.
You are way to harsh on the kid for no reason. Hes not a bum bro. He was fgjting a slick lefty after 11 months off. Like really.Comment

The one thing I do worry about is HBO cutting their budget once again... This year they cut 15mil from their boxing budget. I would hate for them to have to cut again next year cuz they're not getting a return from their investment.Comment

How have they not found out that this kid is not a young Jones or Mayweather?
He's made over 5 million for all of his garbage fights on HBO. I'm not knocking his hustle, I'm saying how dumb HBO is. They're gonna feel even dumber when they don't get a return on their investment.
Dawson's a semi-good investment, he doesn't have an interesting personality or story, but he strictly fights top contenders and has many big fights (and wins) ahead of him.Comment

Thing is. This shouldve been expected. Everyone knows hes not a big draw yet.
They even had Cab and Yordan on the undercard in hopes of an exciting fight.
To fill seats.
I think now its only stars for Berto.
I think after Mosley loses to Floyd thats the next fight.
HBO wont put him in there with low level star power guys anymore.Comment

no, thats what his manager and promotional team are for.
addix covered this perfectly in his post. berto is yet another fighter who HBO jumped on the bandwagon early and didnt give a chance to at least build a local/regional following. now theyre trying to shove him down everyone's throats while theyre hemorrhaging money? their business model is all fcked up and we're gonna be the ones paying for it in the future.
celebs? yeah boxers and celebs they either invented or planted.
me being harsh on berto AS A FIGHTER has nothing to do with this thread.
kid couldnt draw flies to horse sht. that is a FACT.Comment
