How many times can you slip?

After watching the last two rounds of Abraham Dirrell, it's clear to me that Dirrell wanted to survive, no doubt about it. But my question is, when you are exhausted and goes into survivalmode, can you just slip a lot of times and gain time by doing it?

(PS. I'm not saying it was an intentional slip from Dirrell, because it wasn't.)

I doubt it. But then again if you slip, you slip. There could be a loophole there. I dont think Dirrell was slipping on purpose.

He slipped twice in the same exact spot.

      Slips are never intentional.

When they are, it's called taking a knee.

I bet you can fool the judge, just let your leg slide into some akward position like a split and put your hand on the canvas.

I've never heard of any rules regarding it, but I think there should be. Against Froch I think Dirrell went down intentionally on more than one occassion. Against Abraham though I don't remember him doing that.

I remember Jeff Lacy being badly hurt in a fight (against Mendoza) and quickly clinching and then virtually tackling his opponent to the floor. Things like that are just 'tricks of trade' and hard to deal with I suppose.

Well if a judge can be fooled then how can you say with certainty that Dirrell didn't fake his slip?

You either believe that slips are never intentional, or you believe that you can fake a slip, in which case you'd have to concede the possibility that Dirrell may have done so.

He fell down often when he was in trouble in the Frotch fight.

Not including the slips or knock downs - he intentionally went to the canvas 3 times against Abraham.

Dirrell moves a lot, dances around a bit, etc., making him more susceptible to slipping. The ring was really wet and all the slippery advertisements didn't help. Why would he fake slips when he was dominating? If you think he was in survival mode, you should go watch the last round again.

My memory failed me for a minute there-would it be unfair of me to blame it on the drink?
