If Pavlik dominates, will he get credit & will people jump back on the bandwagon?

First off, Martinez is a solid fighter, I think everyone knows that. If Pavlik destroys him and knocks him out, will it automatically be dismissed as "Martinez was moving up in weight, of course Kelly should have won" or will Kelly get the full credit he deserves for beating a legit fighter?

Secondly, I remember prior to hopkins this board was FULL of Pavlik fans, remember the days of "Pavlik will knock Calzaghe out!" type of threads every day? Seems like it was so long ago. But since then, Kelly lost to bhop and has fought a couple weak ass opponents. Will a Kelly win get some of those old fans back & possibly gain some new ones as well?

Lastly, if he loses, and loses bad, is it safe to say his career is just about over, meaning, he'll never be on the top again?

Pavlik is fighting for his career, If he wins and wins big, he will be passed the Hopkins loss, and will have big fights down to road. If he loses, he will be seen as being finishes against the top level guys.

Of course I'll give Pavlik credit, but he's gonna get outboxed and I'm gonna enjoy every minute of it. I used to have so much respect for Pavlik, but the fact that he ducked AA, Paul and opt to face Mora at one point, I'd like to see him get beat, luckily that will be soon

          1) pavlik deserves some credit if he beats sergio, but sergio himself would rather fight at 154

          2) i dunno why martinez would get a pass for losing to pavlik at 160, but pavlik won't get a pass for losing to a guy a 170 lbs

          3) martinez is a good boxer, so unless its a brutal beating pavlik can continue his career, but he'll be relegated to a gatti type career for blood and guts

This. I still think Pavlik can be a force in the P4P rankings but he HAS to beat Martinez to become that.

Yeah sure. For the record though a lot of his pre-Hopkins hype can be credited to the yanks branding him the Calzaghe killer.

It seemed to me that a bunch of people jumped back on the ****wagon after he beat that scrub in December, so a win over Martinez would logically fill the bandwagon back up again since Martinez is a quality fighter and would be a very quality win.

Lockett and Rubio were ranked #1 for his belts as well.

Loads of credit that got him, huh?
