That is pretty true, boxing is very much a sport of what have you done for me lately though.

I would also add that slick fighters cause problems for most fighters since their style hinges on making it hard for the other guy.

Because Manny thrives on battle, the way to defeat an opponent that thrives on combat (other than being straight up better at it) is to not oblige them in combat only engaging when it is to your advantage. Just looking at how certain fights went down when guys were not engaging Manny he appeared to get frusterated, but against the guys he was facing it didn't really matter because Manny was above them with the exception of JMM and JMM is a good boxer but he is not exactly slick he is an offensive boxer who wants to get off while limiting the other guy but he will eat some leather to get his aslong as he is not going to eat more than the other guy.

A truly slick fighter that thrives on frusterating the other guy is the worst matchup for Manny, they would need to be excellent at that to win but anyone who fights that way to me is someone who will give Manny issues.

I used to think these same things at the start of the Pacquiao hype, post-the-Delahoya-beatdown. I still believed this after he Ko'd Hatton.

The Cotto fight did a little to change that as that video in the other thread shows, landing solid lefts and moving to Cotto's side, out of danger. But then he goes in against Clottey and shows the complete opposite of what's he's done in the Delahoya, Hatton, Cotto fights, and that's the ability to stay busy non-stop if you give him a defensive target.

Simply put, Mayweather better be on his best, better not be relaxed like he was against JMM, styles make fights and JMM's counterpunching ways weren't the answer.

Because Pac will put the same type of pressure that Hatton put on Floyd, minus the vulnerabilty to get as easly countered as Hatton was, because unlike Hatton, who had great footspeed BUT terrible hand-coordination.....Pacquiao won't be LUNGING in like Hatton. But he sure will put a job on Floyd if Money relaxes up against the ropes too many times during the 3 minture span, and will steal many, many rounds.

The way Floyd handles Mosley will tell us a bit about he would do against Pac, because this is his first fast-handed fighter in a while. Judah was years ago, and Judah's stamina ****** down the stretch, something that MOsley & Pacquiao don't have a problem with.

the thing about the Clottey fight i noticed was that when Clottey decided to throw, he was connecting. i realize Manny wanted him to open up a bit more, but theres really no excuse for getting tagged with right hands. i imagine Mayweathers movement and shoulder roll can be just as effective as Clottey's guard, but with better timed shots and quicker counters. Clottey had no countering ability. still, Manny was busy enough to overwhelm him, and its possible he can do the same to Floyd. cant wait to see Floyd in action May 1. he will answers a lot of our questions.

Your post pretty much sums it up for me, Ray leonard V Duran comes to mind.. When Ray fought Duran the first time he got suck into the mind games and went to battle with Duran and he lost! When he made uran say NO mas it was basically out of frustration.
