There's a good reason why many people think a slick counterpuncher would be the best "style" of fighter to beat pac.

Can you imagine anybody beating him while going toe to toe and coming forward instead?

The fact that he got outboxed by JMM in their previous fights was true. BUT, I think one thing people like to often overlook is that Pac isn't the same fighter he was when he fought JMM years ago. Just look at how much he's improved as a fighter. In the first fight against JMM all he knew was the straight left. He's become a much more complete fighter since then.

He ducked Zahir Raheem and Nate Campbell, he can't fight a slick fighter!

I personally don't think it's the slick part that gives Pac trouble, it's the counter punching part. JMM did so well and fought Pac so close because he went to war with Pac counter punching, not because he ran and counter punched.

Pac has obviously improved, to the point where I am very interested to see him against a counter puncher. Pac has improved his own counter punching to the point I really wonder if a slick fighter that isn't on Mayweather's level would even bother him. I just don't think an ultra defensive fighter would be able to keep Pac off anymore. Sure, they will land one good counter punch, but they will have 5 or 6 come back at them.

I wouldn't pick any old slick boxer to beat Pacquiao, but I believe Mayweather's elusiveness and liquid transitioning between defense and attack would be the undoing of Pac. As much as Manny has improved his skills over the past few years he's still there to be hit, and I also think he's prone to falling short when he flurries against more mobile boxers - something a sharp counter-puncher could use to wreak havoc.

At these point in both Mayweather and Pacquiao's careers i want to see how they deal with each others strengths and weaknesses, Pac is the top volume puncher at the moment and Mayweather is the top counterpuncher in the game.

When you watch Pac struggle in the first round of the Cotto fight due to Cotto jabbing and boxing him then you watch the JMM fight were Pac looked confused by JMM's counter punching its easy to see why we people think a slick fighter will beat him.

Also he hasnt shown us that he can beat a fighter who wont come right at him yet.
you are wrong on the first round that you are talking about.

in the first round any fighter in this fine boxing needs to measure his

opponent. unless your are mike tyson and you are confident you can beat the

guy in 5 or less rounds.

Pacman now evolves in good tactical movement. he is too mental boxer now

            than a brawler.

pac is a offensive fighter.. he set his offense as well his defense with it.

pac is getting his defense on offense.

on a minimal distance thats why he is getting hit outside by an opponent who

got longer reach. pac never plays inside.

floyd is a full defensive fighter.

floyd is a full dodger and not a tanker. floyd is distance fighter and a smart

fighter a dangerous potshotter with a deadly lefthook and a slick one.

Maybe because enough of it could frustrate Pacquiao and make him make some big mistakes where the slick boxer can take advantage of.

This is why I don't get the whole "Slick fighter" arguement. I could see if he was an Arthur Abraham or Kelly Pavlik, but Pac is fast enough to cut off the ring against anyone in boxing, and with his footwork and cordination....I cant see anyone turning him either.
Floyd Mayweather will frustrate and beat Manny if the fight ever happens.

LOl using 1 round Burner. If you use 1 round of the Hatton VS May fight, then you can say Floyd would have trouble with Manny.

Anyway, I feel that Pac is the ebst offensive fighter at 147 right now, maybe bar Mosley. But Mosely right now may not have the legs and is possibly too rusty to do anything.

Pac on the other ahnds is pretty much in prime, although his body seems to get hurt a lot more and not repair fast.

As for Maywetaher, yes he can beat Pac. Most definitely, but not slick boxers.

Slick boxers like Forbes will get beat. No one else out there other than Maywetaher can ebat Manny.

Mayweather is not simply a slick boxer, he's fast, precise, has great legs and vision. He has very long range and one of the most physically gifted guys today.

The same will go to Pac when Mayweather faces him. No one Mayweather has seen is on Pac's level either.

That's why I ****ing love this fight
