Hopkins doesn't get enough credit for the Pavlik win.

I'm so excited for that fight next week though man. It should be great.
You may have a point - can't wait to see what how he deals with Martinez next week. Pavlik will definitely get hit but so will Martinez. One thing thing I'm wondering is, will Pavlik be able to land his right against such an effective lefty?

He could fight at 168, but he would be much slower then he is when he is more comfortable at 160. If Pavlik moved up, I think he'd get his ass sparked by any top 168 pounder.

Im not going to call that a great win. Pavlik was out of his best class. I mean cmon bro Hopkins has talked about fighting Adamek at cruiser and Maskaev and Haye at Heavy weight. Hops is a big dude. It wasnt a fair fight.
Hopkins fought the majority of his career at middleweight always making weight and not blowing up 20 pounds. He always stayed in shape. He was a natural career middleweight so don't give me that ****. If Pavlik was out of his best class, so was Hopkins. Hell Hopkins wasn't even in his prime and considered washed up.

I picked Hopkins over Pavlik and so did some others, but not in a beating like that fight was.

Pavlik was 17 years old in the amateurs and younger. Pavlik has fought above 160 more then once besides Hopkins. Also Pavlik has stated it's not entirely easy to make 160.

the tarver win wasn't that great..., but i understand its the only fighter hopkins beat of equal size and talent...he only looks more like a fluke because he hasn't fought a legit lightheavy since tarver....how long has that been now? 5 years?

So what he was 43. Age doesnt make or break you in boxing its how you look and fight at that age. Like I said he looked great but lets not act like that was some monumental historic win.

It's not THAT he beat Pavlik it's HOW he beat Pavlik u feel me, Pavlik wasn't at his best weight, he looked slow, frustrated and confused and he showed he wasn't himself that night, the kid bit off more than he could chew and he knew it which is why to this day he hasn't went back up in weight. Hopkins is a veteran, he knew bringing Pavlik up in weight would damage him and he could take advantage of that by fouling and frustrating him, he could take him off his plan and basically leave him lost which is what happened..

Had Hopkins beat Pavlik at a lower catchweight and no fouls then I would forever be amazed at that win but he didn't, he fought a dirty fight as he has been doing and it stunk, you could see Kelly had no more answers because he was pissed, after a while his anger just flared up and at the end he blew up while Bernard laughed as if to say "yea mother****er you took my bait, thanks for making me great again" and it stunk, he could have been 60 man when you win using those dirty tactics you taint it in my eyes, you relied on fouls and dirty **** to get you by and THAT'S why he gets no credit from me..

for the record I thought Pavlik would win, I was in the mindset that he would still be the same but as the fight unfolded and I saw Hopkins lead in with his head and hit low I knew what was about to happen and I was pissed, instead of feeling happy that I'm watching a good Boxing match I'm pissed because this snake is slithering his way into another W

                  blah... blah... blah.

fact is all his career he's been a talentless bum who's only relied on dirty tactics and foul play to win fights. not to mention the bum doesn't have much skills either. that's why he's continuouslys (and deservingly) disrespected and not given credit. the guy sucks ass and he's just a laughing stock.

                  lol!!

I actually think the most important key to the fight is Pavlik's jab. Martinez I think struggles a bit with height of fighters and can't get his style going if he's stopped by a jab. He showed trouble with Cintron because of Cintron's height and jab.

However, can Pavlik's jab get through a southpaw style and can he deal with Martinez's speed and combinations? Also can Martinez keep the pace up. He's gonna not have to gas or else he's ****ed.

It was a great upset. Great. It'll be named among his other big wins. Not better than Tarver or Trinidad but a great upset...and a good win.
