cotto vs. hatton thoughts NOW?

I think Cotto's got the edge in skills and one shot power but Hatton's got the edge in workrate, speed and chin. I think of all the matchups at 140, this has the potential to be the best and closest fight with Hatton wearing him down and stopping him late but having to come through a kd from a counter. I think Cotto needs to get some of experience of being put under real pressure first though, or he could get overwhelmed by Hatton.

I'm thinking the same thing, Hattons proved he can beat an elite fighter now but Cotto's still fighting Good but not elite opponents. Cotto could make a fight with Harris after Abdullaev, in this time Hatton could take a warm up and fight the winner.

I'd rather see Hatton fight the winner of Mayweather vs Gatti but he'd have the chance of winning the WBA & WBO against the Cotto vs Harris winner and wouldnt have the HBO & Showtime problems the other fight would cause.

On the power issue, I've thought Cotto has better single shot power than Hatton but i'm not sure now, Hattons been fighting fighters who have never been KO'd and Cotto hasnt. Hatton hurt Tszyu and would have dropped him but the ropes kept him up. Although it looks like Cotto has the better single shots power its still up for debate because Hatton defintely been figting people with better chins.

I'd prefer the PBF v Gatti winner too, which will be PBF IMO. Mayweather's the trickiest fight out there for Hatton because that's the last unanswered question in my mind; Can he cope with a superskilled boxer and mover and cut off the ring effectively? I could only see 2 outcomes in that fight, either a wide ud for PBF or Hatton being effective at closing him down and brutalizing him within 7.

Harris didn't have the balls to fight Hatton before and I can't see the KT fight making him any more willing. He already knows what it's like to lose to a pressure fighter in Oliveira and he surely can't be confident of beating a fighter who takes that to another level.

Nobody's going to outbox PBF so I'd say Hatton has as good a chance at beating him as anyone with his style, and you're right, there is confidence to be gained from those fights. I don't know if there's a suitable opponent out there at 140 to give you a proper tune-up for PBF so you may as well jump in at the deep end, you know what he's going to bring to the table.

I think Mayweather will get stopped by Gatti as far out in left field as that may sound to some. In a fantasy matchup between Hatton and Floyd, I would pick Hatton to win with effective body punching, cutting off the ring, and bullying Mayweather around. Mayweather is not a big puncher and nothing he can do can keep Hatton from applying his pressure. If Kostya Tzyu's punches could not stop Hatton from coming forward no way in hell can Mayweathers. It would make a big difference in this fight though about who the referee is. If the Referee were like Jay Nady who allows no holding in and hitting that would favor Mayweather in a very serious way, then Hatton would have to fight Floyd Mayweathers' fight and he might just get outpointed if the ref does not let him fight on the inside.

I hope Gatti beats Mayweather so bad so that we can see Gatti vs Hatton. The two brawlers who always come in as underdogs.

I could also see Cotto having stamina problems with Hatton's pace because I don't think he makes the weight very comfortably. That's a decent call on his defence too.

i dont know if its me but the last paragraph dont make sense homie.

How can Cotto's defense not be good enough because he held his hands too high up? And how is that not gonna hold Hatton off?
