    cotto vs. hatton thoughts NOW?

im the biggest cotto fan out there, but damn, hatton got my respect now...before while i used to say hatton was overrated and cotto would easily win it, now im not so sure.

maybe i should wait until cotto fights abdullaev, but if these two fight, i actually see hatton winning this fight...

    <<< new hatton fan haha

I like Cotto alot also , but i see him probably getting rocked by Hatton, he fights a lil dirty and would probably frustrate the still young Cotto

          tought to pick
i was typen and had put
cotto comin in so heavy takes it easy
          then i rememebered
          o ****
          hatton just beat tszyu
who basicly does the same thing
so it is very much a toss up
but hatton would have to be favored since he just dethroned tszyu

defintly a battle of left hooks

I know I'm going to get ripped on for this, but here it goes.

Miguel Cotto would beat Ricky Hatton. Cotto is just as young and hungry, but has many other advantages/skills that I feel Hatton doesn't possess.

I feel that Miguel is a better counter puncher than Hatton. He has developed his right hand into a dangerous weapon now as well so he''s not not so left-hook happy. Cotto knows when to pick his spots to throw sharp, hard counter hooks and straights. I have seen his efficient use the right hook counter in each of his last 5 fights and it would be a good weapon against Hattons left hook downstairs.

Miguel normally fights at a much more measured and composed pace than he fought in the Corley fight. A lot of people gauge his abilities from that 1 Corley fight and I don't think thats fair. His defense is usually very tight and he takes a lot of shots off of his gloves and shoulders. I don't think Hattons handspeed would be fast enough to trouble him.

Cotto is a bigger puncher than is Hatton and has a superior left hook. I also feel that Cotto's handspeed is better and his footwork is also better. I feel their body attacks are about equal, with Ricky going there more, but Cotto throwing harder, more accurate shots.

Where I think Cotto is better in those departments I think Hatton is better in a few of his own. Hattons workrate is better, and that may lead to a situation where Cotto gets hit by a hard shot that he doesn't see. Hatton has also proved that he can take a hard shot from a big puncher, whereas Cotto hasn't proven this like Hatton. Ricky is effectively aggressive which would probably play into Cotto hands if he were a lot more experienced, but he's not and the N'Dou fight showed that he can be given fits when he's extremely pressured.

Overall, I've been saying for a long time now that Cotto is the future of 140 and somewhat boxing in general. I'm one of his biggest fans and would pick him to stop Hatton late in an excellent fight.

Thats a good analysis, big cotto fan too,but i dont know how the fight would turn out at all,i certainly dont think hatton would KO cotto, cotto can move when he feels he has to,But i think hatton can definetly score a UD,mainly because i doubt cotto will KO hatton, and i dont know what cotto will do when it goes in to the late rounds(he hasnt gone that far ecently),he's technicaly superior but hatton workrate may be the diffence.

I think Cotto's got the edge in skills and one shot power but Hatton's got the edge in workrate, speed and chin. I think of all the matchups at 140, this has the potential to be the best and closest fight with Hatton wearing him down and stopping him late but having to come through a kd from a counter. I think Cotto needs to get some of experience of being put under real pressure first though, or he could get overwhelmed by Hatton.
