It also doesn't mean **** like he said. Vargas won three rounds against Oscar. His performance against him is overrated. So he went to war with him. Gatti went to war with Ward. Hell Cotto went to war with Margarito. Quartey was Vargas' shining moment.

It's close, but I think Cotto goes down as the better fighter because he had a respectable run at 140 to go with his solid WW reign. Vargas boiled himself down to 154 for as long as he could. I also think he clearly lost the Winky fight whether it was 8-4 (my card) or 7-5 (understandable).

i think someone already said it but i dont think any version of cotto beats ike or wins a controversial dec over winky.

the vargas that fought ike would have beat margo.

but in terms of longviety cotto was better
You can't really go by that because they're not the same size. Cotto drained himself down to 140. Vargas drained himself down to 154.

Cotto would have struggled with Ike, no doubt.

Most newbs on this forum haven't see much of Vargas at his peak so a poll doesn't settle anything. Most voting for Cotto a silly little *******s who started watching the sport when hbo 24/7 started.

Vargas was greater than Cotto at his peak.Vargas at his peak is a fighter De La Hoya wanted nothing to do with.I always hear about this beatdown that a prime Trinidad gave a green Vargas but what is often forgotten is just how competitive that fight actually was.A shot, weight drained Vargas was giving Mosley hell in their first fight and looked the stronger fighter by the time it was stopped.Vargas at his peak dominates Mosley.Had Vargas been carefully brought along, then he would have had a greater career than De La Hoya and Trinidad.

Vargas would slap the **** out of Paul Williams too.
