So that was my reasoning on that one...
Still, Trinidad beat him not too long ago and in convincing fashion. Besides, Trinidad's resume is way much better.

Another thing is that Mayorga has not done much lately to be honest. I am also a Mayorga fan but the guy has not impressed me since January of 2003 when he Ko'ed Forrest.

Trinidad's resume is better overall to be sure, but is his recent resume? I would say no it is not, in the past three years Tito has fought twice. Once was a win over a welterweight with the fight going off at 160, the other was a fight in which he did not win around against a junior middleweight champion who is also fighting at 160. I think that Trinidad is a trully great champion who will surely be in the hall of fame, but I also think that he cannot be too high up on a current pound for pound list...

Can you seriously rate Mayorga above Trinidad after the beating that Tito gave him? Forget the weight because Mayorga was competitive even at 160. P4P? Do you think that Mayorga has done much lately? Do you think Mayorga has better skills than Trinidad?

Its not that I think Mayorga is better then Trinidad, because I don't. I think the weight is important though because it was not where Mayorga was comfortable. I mean, P4P is a crazy thing, I kind of am thinking of this Tito comeback as I do the Chavez "farewell" tour. Fun to watch and limited implications for boxing, but also not really his whole heart in it. I mean, he looked GREAT against Mayorga, but Mayorga is not a middleweight and Tito was subjected to a fate worse then a KO against Winky. It is not that I think Mayorga has done something great, just that Trinidad has been a little more tarnished in his losses then Mayorga has in his. By the same token I could also just as easily see it that many (if not most) would have Trinidad higher, maybe even higher then I have Mayorga. This is just my perspective on it.

And I will believe the Trinidad retirement when I see it stick for good.

I am an open minded fan, but I can't understand why Mayorga should rate higher than Trinidad after the beating he took. Yes, Trinidad was dominated by Hopkins and Wright, but consider Trinidad's achievements and level of opposition. It's actually not even close. Trinidad is a sure HOF while Mayorga is not. Also, Mayorga has some losses to journeymen who are only recognized by their relatives. Trinidad lost to one of the greatest middles ever and to Wright, who is P4P if you know what I mean.

Trinidad would knock out Mayorga at 160

Trinidad would knock out Mayorga at 154

Trinidad would knock out Mayorga at 147

That is the ******est thing I've ever seen, Mayorga who would lose 10 times out of 10 to Trinidad is rated above him?

I guess you agree with me when I say that there's no way in hell that Mayorga ranks higher than Trinidad.

Yeah I am on par with you on alot of this. I think Tito is a much better fighter then Mayorga talent wise. This is not a ranking of skill or even career accomplishment overall, my list is just about the more recent past. And as much as I like Trinidad he has not beaten a upper echelon (and actual) middleweight since 2001 when he fought Joppy. That is a long time ago. Basically all I am looking at for Tito is his last three fights a win over the much smaller Mayorga, a win over the undertalented Cherifi, and a loss to Winky Wright. In all honosty I think that the Hopkins loss happened to long ago to be a factor anyway! Mayorga meanwhile has only lost a very close decision to Cory Spinks and a loss to Trinidad fourteen pounds heavier then he is accustomed to fighting at. I am not even entirely sure that Mayorga would be able to beat Trinidad at 140, but I am not sure he couldn't either, and this I really can't take that kind of speculation into account.

That's a point there. I know that Trinidad did not do much with his comeback, but it's good to know that you give Trinidad the higher rating skillwise. It's obvious anyway, so it's good to read that. Trinidad is one of the top 5 boxers of his generation.
