Bernard Hopkins has promised to pound Roy Jones Jr. into retirement. He was forced to wait 17-years to avenge the 1993 decision loss to Jones. Hopkins plans to punish his career rival and he doesn't want a quick knockout in the rematch. He wants to punish Roy slow. Hopkins warned Jones' trainer Alton Merkerson to stop the fight when the moment is right - or watch his fighter take more punishment. [Click Here To Read More]

The fight sold like crap. They didn't even fool the casual fans to buy tickets to this event just to be at a big event such as this.

I don't quite understand, who FORCED Hopkins to wait 17 years to rematch Jones. Was it not Hopkins who didn't want to fight Jones, AND, was a large part of that not because Jones was showing himself to be so good as to dazzle everybody, AND was it not also that Hopkins was a strictly enforced, artificial middleweight, whilst Jones was a light heavyweight????

And I'm sure there are more reasons, like the fact that Hopkins was a NULL figure as far as purses were concerned, with absolutely NO crowd appeal, etc.etc.................Eh??

I like what B-Hop is doing here. He's planting another seed of worry into Merkerson's head. I bet some paper on the under, so I'm pulling for the stoppage (which I don't see RJ having the chance for).
