John Ruiz has beaten plenty of good heavyweights, he may fight ugly but he can beat any pretenders. I'll give Haye credit for a decisive win.
Will the Haye-ters give him any credit for beating Ruiz?

not alot of people with give him credit because the haters have only seen the valuev fight, which was his only fight without a knockout to that point. he had a gameplan against valuev and stuck to it and won and is still getting hated on. but if he was american he would be perseived differently. just imo.Comment

A lot of people ripped on him for one main reason: he didn't live up to the hype. If you're going to talk a big talk, get everyone amped, promise the world then deliver a saucer of stale milk then people rightly are going to feel aggrieved. Add in the fact that quite a few people thought Haye lost that fight on the cards, including the British commentators and it's hardly the best statement for the self-proclaimed young saviour of boxing, now is it?not alot of people with give him credit because the haters have only seen the valuev fight, which was his only fight without a knockout to that point. he had a gameplan against valuev and stuck to it and won and is still getting hated on. but if he was american he would be perseived differently. just imo.
Oh, and please drop this whiny victim complex. It gives us a bad reputation.Comment

its not about the result (unless he loses) but how he looks doing so. he knocked out barrett but looked bad doing so. not using his jab, combinations etc.. just swinging one wild KO punch after another looking to get him. he did get him eventually but it wasnt a craftsmanlike performance.
on the other way around he somewhat struggled against valuev and barely threw any punches. but he showed he was fundamentally sound displaying excellent footwork and defense, he controled distance and used angles very well and when he did throw he was accurate. also he placed his punches intelligently, that was a very impressive performance. it didnt bring u out of your seat but it showed u the skills and craft necessary to possibly compete with a klitschko.
thats what ill be looking for on saturday, if i see it ill give him credit.Comment

Ill give him credit for it, ruiz is a test, if he cant pass it well then thats too bad for him and the rest of the division actually as he seems to be the only one causing a bit of excitment, the last few of the klits opponents have been hopeless so im hoping haye can at least cause a few problems with his heavy hands, which he has gotComment

Ideally, I'd like to see a mixture of the two. Intelligent boxing geared towards going for the knockout. If he's too wild it'll excite the casual fans but won't exactly bode well for his chances versus a Klit sometime down the road. If he's too passive then it's going to look quite bad for him from that same casual fanpoint who thus far have been promised excitement and knockouts.its not about the result (unless he loses) but how he looks doing so. he knocked out barrett but looked bad doing so. not using his jab, combinations etc.. just swinging one wild KO punch after another looking to get him. he did get him eventually but it wasnt a craftsmanlike performance.

to get respect you must beat someone we respect, ruiz is far from that. He had a decent career but he is old now so why get carried away in believing he could have won? Ruiz is just a payday for haye he was no threat at allComment
