What a sad, sad way for an all time great to end his career.
There is no way this fight is gonna make more than 3 million bucks after expenses. This is probably the saddest matchup I have witnessed in 15 years of being a boxing fan and there will be no real winners on fight night.
Jones has the punch resistance of a prime Charlie Zelenoff and the speed and reflexes of Frankenstein. He is only gonna last as long as Bernard lets him which will probably be awhile because Hopkins knows it's a farce and probably won't want to knock Jones out in 1 minute and prove everyone right.
I am boycotting this fight, anyone who buys it is doing the sport a disservice by telling the powers that be that fans will continue to pay 60 bucks for complete bull**** fights.
The only good thing about this fight is I will make some more money betting against Roy Jones. Over the past 6-7 years I have made a small fortune betting on Tarver, Johnson, Green and Calzaghe.
So I guess I also want to say thank you to Roy Jones since I will probably make more money off this fight than he will.
To be honest I thought Jones looked quite good against Sheika and Lacy. He just got caught early against Green and couldnt recover. I don't think he'll beat Hopkins and do think he should retire but saying that he would still beat 90% of fighters at his weight. Ofcoure he aint as fast and powerful as he used to be BUT he was THAT fast and THAT powerful that he can still match and surpass a hell of a lot of fighters in those areas. He cant take a punch but he never could, he just needs to stay out of range
Well, I guess a part of me still thinks bitter rivals can draw out the best of each other. At this point though I think this is a pipe dream. Roy of 2006 maybe could of reached back and went the extra mile but Roy of 2010, forget about it. Still want to see if he can prove me wrong though.
