Comments Thread For: Wladimir Klitschko-Alexander Povetkin Talks Begin

BoxingScene.com was advised by Chris Meyer, managing director for Sauerland Event, that discussions have begun to put together a fight between WBO/IBO/IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and IBF mandatory, undefeated Alexander Povetkin. Talks were initiated last week. Meyer is hoping to reach a deal with Klitschko's management before the IBF orders both sides to take part in a purse bid.

    Good news!

If Wlad fights Povetkin in the summer, there's a good chance he'll have time to take a third fight this year in the late fall - hopefully against David Haye.

It's almost as if Povetkin doesn't want to be Wlad's mandatory. :laff2:

      And who could blame him...

No wonder Wlad was a O.K. with Haye rematching Valuez. Irrational people will still say that Haye's ducking and should give up his belt to fight Wlad, but it probably wouldn't apply to Wlad when he has to fight his manditory. No one's ducking anyone, but it's easier to say that then actually think about the situation. Wlad will fight Pov, Haye will rematch Valuez, and then they will fight around December, like Wlad had suggested.

          He will never be ready.

Might as well grab his big payday(and beating) and get it over with.
