So Ward gets homefield all the way unless he gets Abraham in the semis?

Wauw Goosen has made the other promotors dance like puppets.

First and foremost, Ward needs to win vs. Green and Dirrell - lets say that Green lands that lucky punch on Ward and/or Dirrell beats him.

Ward vs. Dirrell would then also be a strong possibility for the semis and most probably be staged in LV, which won't favour 1 guy over the other...

A semi final in Germany with Abraham could be a disaster.

Imagine what would have happened had last Saturday's events taken place in Germany. Dirrell would have been counted out and Abraham declared a knockout winner. There would have been a riot in the ring and the tournament would've imploded.

I don't see why people think the Ward-Dirrell fight is automatically in Ward's hometown. Has that been determined already?

That fight can be anywhere and potentially at a location that benefits Dirrell.

Tom also said it might be in Las Vegas.

Why would Germany be worse than Oakland? Maybe the rules regarding headbutts and holding would be enforced there?

No, I don't think so. The way both fighters behaved in that situation tells me that a DQ would have been the result...too much at stake for everybody involved. BUT, I don't think that this would have happened with a suitable referee...as I already said - in NO fight in this tourney up to last weekend's one a qualified ref was appointed...where are the Wayne Kelly's, Steve Smoger's, Kenny Bayless' or Tony Weeks'?

In theory this gives every fighter who may be on the verge of being knocked out incentive to commit a foul and cost their opponent a point.

Not saying this has anything to do with AA-Dirrell. Just something that occurred to me.

For sports betting purposes a DQ is treated the same as a KO or TKO.
Especially as there have been fights before where a boxer was taking a beating, and was DQ'd because his trainer entered the ring to stop the fight. I remember that happening when Barrera lost to Junior Jones.

The infamous Zelenoff fight ended in DQ as well.
